Sounds like this:

Metronome - Warning
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bt7Qv2wtbXM

If it is, it was probably a live set from AWOL. Darren Jay - Live in London was the name of the cassette.

You God among men. That's exactly what I was talking about! :*) Thank you :D

Free 13-track hardcore album for the lockdown, from a roster of oldskool artists

      https://www.vinylfanatiks.co.uk/downloads

I've had a skip through the tracks and it's not that any of the tracks are bad (apart from the Aphrodite tune) and there are some good tunes on here (Spirits From An Urban Jungle, DJ Junk, Tone Def and X-Plode), but...I don't know, a lot of this new stuff isn't for me.

For free though, you can't complain.

just a heads-up, even though the vinyl has gone, a tenner will get you a DL of Foul Play's 'Origins' album, which is all their releases on their own Oblivion Records label (Vol. 1 & Vol. 2) and Finest Illusion (probably the legal mix) and Screwface from Section 5.

An early Rennie Pilgrem bleepy tune from 1990. I know it from an old Top Buzz Amnesia House tape but only recently ID'd it. The sort of tune you can close your eyes and bliss out to. Lovely!

Had a bit of break from the old skool (don't fret I've still been buying pamphlets about the rave scene in Waltham Forest 1989-92 and other pointless rave ephemera).

Anyway, here's a corker, made in 1992 but not released until 2007. For Twin Peaks lovers

The best ever use of the theme music from Michael Buerk-athon, '999'.

Fantastic slice of '94 jungle (with the remnants of rave's rushy past), from the same people who brought you 'Scottie'.

Monk, you may (hopefully) enjoy this - a sort of vaporwave take on the rave scene of 1992. For me it is joyous. None of the dystopian sounds of hardcore, but a great mix of hands in the air and the "funky" side of rave, interspersed with some lovely chill. It's Name Your Price, so worth grabbing.

Some good tracks on there, although have to say I fail to hear any connection with vaporwave, just seems to be in the title and the label it's on.

there are a couple of bonus tracks that maybe edge into it - yes, maybe I exaggerated, but would love to have a heavier vaporwave take on rave, could be good.

Still not listened to the above, will give it a go this weekend.

2 podcasts I've came across

1: R.O.A.R. - it's on YT only 2 interviews so far, Fabio & Grooverider and Slipmatt, but really interesting and talk about other things (Grooverider working towards his pilot's license and Fabio's love of Coronation Street). Worth a listen.

2: This one's a weird one. https://www.buzzsprout.com/233902/895176

Danny Howard (who is some kind of Radio One type dance DJ) interviewing Slipmatt, but largely around the self-improvement books and their progress on the 'Key Person of Influence' course. Of course, they cover his DJ career, but about halfway through it goes into full-on marketing/visionary/self-help stuff. Slipmatt listing his 3 favourite self-improvement books (Psycho-Cybernetics, Key Person of Influence and some other toss).

I'm loathe to call it nonsense, but it is.

Fucking hell, already drama surrounding this. One of the hosts, Chrissy (who used to DJ/produce as Cris.E.Manic) was contact by two "veterans of the scene" regarding a lighthearted blog post she made a few years ago. These DJs then started orchestrating a pile-on having a go at her.

Bunter & Fat Controller.

Funnily enough those two also got in contact with the producer of an unofficial, unreleased remix of "In Complete Darkness" that has been on Soundcloud for about 5 years. They got it taken down, asked for his address, then turned up at his front door threatening him.

As "In Complete Darkness" is just a dodgy old house track by Rollo (itself ripped off Severed Heads) with a Janet Jackson sample and a breakbeat grafted on, this all seems a bit rich. Fat Controller claims he can do this as he own the rights to the Rollo track...which I doubt, but also I really don't think Janet Jackson has sold the rights to one of her album interludes to him either.

About halfway through the "United Nations" documentary on Netflix all about the One Nation parties and drum 'n' bass in general.

Utter bollocks.

Given the fact it's produced by Terry Stone (who owned and ran One Nation before going to "act" and produce low budget Brit-Gangster films), it's basically putting One Nation and himself at the centre of everything.

Plus the usual people talking utter bollocks.

Fabio saying in the late 1990s he was still telling people he DJed house music as Drum 'n' Bass was still so unknown and uncool.
Terry Stone saying how it all started with illegal raves in warehouses and One Nation was there with them, until the Criminal Justice bill came along (One Nation didn't even start until 1993).
No rave organisation before One Nation had a successful brand.....
One Nation was the first event that was 100% breakbeat music
No other organisation was pushing drum 'n' bass or putting on as big events as One Nation (World Dance??). FFS even though they didn't segregate their rooms 100% Helter Skelter would have a bigger capacity in either of their rooms than One Nation would generally get at their events.

Plus other assorted nonsense.
