On today's show, the final category was political sit-coms. People from The Thick of It was an option and Richard said everyone who wasn't Capaldi, Front or Addison was pointless. He then read pretty much everyone from the cast. Guess who they left out ...

Famous Mortimer

Is it possible they told the team off-camera to not mention him?

Deanjam

It would've been interesting if they'd said Langham as an answer. It is possible they were told he was excluded from the answers. Either way, he appears to be 'persona non grata' on the BBC still.

Jerzy Bondov

I bet if it had been me, in the heat of the moment I would only have been able to think of Langham. Surely they'd have to just give you the money, if it had been a pointless answer? Otherwise just don't do 'people off The Thick of It' question in the first place if you don't want people to mention the star of the first series.

Interesting question. Names of sketch actors in Little Britain, The Fast Show, Dead Ringers and NTNON who appeared in at least seven episodes - which rules out Chris Langham and thus any mention of him by one episode.

COINCIDENCE????

Deanjam

Yesterday's question was appeared in at least 6 episodes, so he would have qualified. Richard definitely left him off the answers.

'So we're looking for "celebrities who have accessed child pornography in the name of research." Good luck to you at home.'

Mr_Simnock

Well if I was a contestant I would say 'Amanda Platell' and hope for the best.

I don't think you get how Pointless works.

monkfromhavana

I watched this the other day and they had two stunners on there - some controller of a radio station in Brighton who was on with her hipster boyfriend, and a gorgeous asian lady. Fantastic television.

It's a right answer though.  :/

Asian lady was lovely.

El Unicornio, mang

How is someone in their 20s unable to name any Hugh Jackman films? I don't understand.

Edit: that Beth girl doesn't know any either, wtf

The first young lass pretty much gave her fitter, dimmer friend an answer by giving 'X-2' and saying it was the second X-Men film.

I actually paused Pointless tonight when there was a shot of that incredibly pretty girl and me and my wife just stared at it whilst we ate our soup.

Sound like a 21st century version of Fred & Rose.

Famous Mortimer

I'm going to be in the audience for this on Tuesday, so that should be a bit of fun. Anyone else been before?

I shall look out for you. Be sure to have your phimosis on display so we know you're a CABber.

billyandthecloneasaurus

i was in the audience about 3 years ago.  Managed to  get tickets for that, as well as comedy vehicle.  Sadly, we didn't get in for comedy vehicle because they gave out too many tickets.  Pointless was the big one though, obviously.

I'm a big fan of the show, but the armstrong/osman BANTZ has been getting more and more tedious since it started really.  Richard Osman is the perfect example of someone who was naturally quite affable and amusing as far as regular people go, but since people have told him 'lol you're so funny on pointless, rich!!' he now thinks he's a comedian and is now quite irritating.

My mum records it on the ol' tivo box and just fast-forwards it when he's going off on one.

Another small gripe - they don't go through enough of the scores at the end of each round for my liking.  They should deffo put all the scores on the BBC website.

Completely agree.

Uncle TechTip

I've gone off it too, probably a bit over familiar but they absolutely ruined the final with the three confusing questions. I think I prefer the Chase now. That's the best looking game show there's ever been.

Famous Mortimer

billy, I know they had no merch then but did they hang around afterwards? I'm pondering whether to take my copy of the Pointless book and turn it from thing I'll never read again to amazing Christmas present in one easy step.

billyandthecloneasaurus

I'll be honest, we didn't even stay for the 2nd episode being recorded.  The first one took for fucking ever, and we couldn't be arsed.

Perhaps the worst part was learning just how fake it is.  At one point, the warm up bloke got us to do a 'mild laugh', and 'bigger laugh' and then a 'massive laugh', which were then recorded to dub over the jokes.  It isn't like I was totally naive to da tricks of da trade, but the extent of it was a bit depressing.

Not very necessary. The chap was disappointed that the laughter's embellished is all

Ollie and Jake on tonight are a couple of middle class student gits.

Beth is on though. She's a cute one.

Norton Canes

And that other couple got a triple 100 in the final, as just punishment for knocking her out.

And even if she's not, right?

People are always saying what brahmas they have on that show, but I never believe them. On here once, somewhere, someone was banging on about one of them and I did a few screen grabs, which I have just found:

Since then I haven't bothered.
