Hello - sketchy memories of this stuff, but can anybody point me in the direction of either an archived version of the website that used to be up or a scan of the pull out that was given away in a paper (was it the observer? I had it at some point). I'd be interested in looking at it again after all these years, and I'm also slightly worried I've just plagiarised a section of it for something I'm writing! Thanks.

Thomas

I'm not too familiar with whatever this online Smokehammer project was, but there was some stuff in the Observer done by Morris and Iannucci, which is all available here -

That's quite alright. What is it you're writing, if I might be so flippin' cheeky as to ask?

It looks like the website has been recently deleted: http://www.thesmokehammer.com. As far as I know there was only one edition followed by an audio update with the Bush Whacked stuff. You can view them below:

This made me laugh -

QuoteWTC fatalities "lower than first thought"...

It is now thought that the number of people who perished in the world trade centre attacks on 11th September may be as low as three.

Original estimates of 6,000 were probably much larger due to an unprecedented "fuck me" factor, say psychologists.

Counselors are on standby as New Yorkers face the trauma of discovering they've been more upset than they needed to be.

On hearing the news Mayor Guliani said " I feel rather stupid" and locked himself in his house.

The mayor already faces criticism over his proposal to keep Ground Zero shrouded in smoke after the dust cleared briefly last week and revealed that the South Tower was still standing.

President Bush said this evening "these new figures make no difference to anything - three dead is still three too many - as Saddam Hussein is about to find out"

Ah nowt, just a comedy blog I'm shortly launching to mass apathy. This was the bit I suspected I was kind of ripping off:

"Similar plots in Washington and Los Angeles were also foiled although one operative did successfully execute a plan to hurl a lobster at Chevvy Chase"

As you can tell it's going to be a smash.

Nice to have a read of all this again. It's largely underwhelming but the odd inspired bit (Condoleezza cappucino, expensive bollocking of shepherds...)
