BBC to expand iPlayer

Content to become available before broadcast... possibly there'll be an iTunes-type store...  online content only... rather thin on the details and coverage focusses on different aspects.

For some time, I've wondered about the fact that if you don't watch television programming at the time of broadcast that you don't need a license fee – personally, I expect that there will be some kind of cost to do this.

Disregarding all the 'myBBC' branding bollocks, this will reignite the license fee debate. Once 'your BBC' has been personalised, people are going to see how little of the service they use and demand to pay accordingly.

The, much better, ITV service has already established a nice 'watch the next episode now for a couple of quid' model that, of course, the beeb can't replicate. I think they'd have done better focusing on the internet-only content and BBC+1 service, rather than the Netflix inspired recommendations.
