Anyway, the episode hasn't aired yet, so it isn't available otherwise.

blimey, the way they've been going on about it on twitter i thought it came out a week or so ago.
thank you for the hint

On the one hand, I thought the writing was average. On the other hand, the concept is great (maybe I should watch the original?) On the third hand, I enjoyed Andy Daly's performance immensely e.g.

In summary, I am open to future episodes.

Great screenshot, but I was disappointed overall by this.

Also, am I the only person that loves Andy Daly on CBB and his own podcast, but hates Nine Sweaters? I think I made it half way or so with about one 'heh', then gave up.

The scene with the sex doll in this week's episode was brilliant. "That was a work thing."

I loved him dragging it up the steps with the line roughly going
Spoiler alert
"Due to Titanium Imbued Skeleton, Katrina had a weight over 100 pounds. An obvious design flaw since there was no possible way I'm the most out of shape person who owns one of these".

It's not just the line itself, but the way he says it, almost hurt by the possibility.

I also really liked the fact that his co-host on the show made me laugh with the line about the lens cap. Fleshing out the other characters and making them funny too is so important. Don't need to surround him with straight men.

I often wonder the same thing about the pornography that corresponds to my exact and specific fetish, but when you've got a desire for something, you need to do all you can to get it. Choose love, kittens.

Some sites allow you to order the results by upload date. Also it's generally being labeled as Review with Forrest MacNeil to get around this problem.

Ant Farm Keyboard

This week's episode was great, with a perfect balance of laughs and absolute despair. If they really deliver on the promise that actions will carry consequences for a long time, it could turn into something amazing.

I give "Pancakes, Divorces, Pancakes" five stars.

Moribunderast

The latest episode made me genuinely sad. I like that they played the divorce portion fairly straight but that made it incredibly bleak. Thankfully the pancakes reprise (especially the moment the question was raised) had me howling.

latest episode was fantastic. really enjoying this show now

I felt the same way. They've so quickly established Forrest as a genuinely moral and lovely guy, despite being a little...odd...that when shitty things happen to him I feel really sad for the character. I'd like to say I hope things don't get any worse, but given what I've heard about the original series, that seems unlikely. I can't complain too much though as their use of it has been really effective, and like you the "30 pancakes" line made me howl with laughter.

I guess the one problem with it all is that surely the wife would know what he did for a living? Unless we're supposed to believe he's lied to her about what he does work wise? And even if that was the case, surely the presence of cameras would give her cause for concern? Hmmm, yeah, better not think about that part of it too much.

Thursday

Daly said he's not told her about the show in the interests of making it scientifically sound, so I'd guess he would have just said he's doing a review show without telling her what specifically it involves.

The cameras do throw the logic out the window a bit though.

FUCKING DUMB LINES

how is his ex wife so good at guessing exactly what he did?
unless this is a plot point that is revealed later in the episode. if so, i will edit my post accordingly.

i did enjoy it and am waiting to see how this whole series goes. i loved the episode before the most recent one, but this one was a bit of a let down

i just realised though, it's an american show and probably has a lot more than 6 episodes, which explains all the filler.

As much as the site is a piece of shit there was this tantalysing bit of info RE: Andy Daly touring over here in his Reddit AMA. Fringe/London dates this year maybe?

QuoteI would love to! I tried to do a run in Edinburgh last year but couldn't make it work schedule-wise. I think I ought to get out there soon. I'd like to have a word with that layabout Prince Harry too. Yep, that settles it. I'm going!

I think it's a bit harsh, but yeah, they were low points in a mostly great episode. It was a  bit of an odd one though, as the first half of the Celebrity Fuck segment (ie the High School Musical woman date) was a bit too cringe-worthy for me, but I enjoyed the Batman part immensely, it's my favourite yet and I loved how it moved the plot forward with his losing custody of his son, etc.

This is quickly shaping up to be a comedy I'm really excited about, and have been trying to persuade friends to watch, which hasn't happened in far too long. Though I am very demanding when it comes to that sort of thing.

remedial_gash

Yes! The divorce episode was a real game changer in that it turned turned a spoof documentary into more of a narrative comedy and broke out the character in such a way as for him to have a real story. I love Daly in pretty everything he's been in, and it'll be interesting to see how Forrest can 'grow' within the confines of the show. 4 stars. ugh, I hated typing that.

Just had a chance to watch the Divorce one. That was just fantastic. The final review revelation was just pitch-perfect, but I laughed hardest at the revelation of the framed photo in Frank's Restaurant.

Spoiler alert
I would have liked a bit of blood in his puke at the end, but that's just me.

This show's going to end on him reviewing his own death/suicide isn't it?

mikeyg27

The pitching of the Divorce question was so well done, with its brevity in contrast to the waffling video questions before it, followed by the crash zoom on Forrest's reaction. Even though I knew the question was coming it had me genuinely sobbing with laughter.

Small Man Big Horse

This was another slightly mixed one for me - though I come in to the show with ridiculously high expectations now. And it wasn't as if there wasn't anything bad about the
Spoiler alert
Friendship segment, other than the idea that Gene wasn't suspicious as to why both Carlos and Forrest were suddenly plying him with presents
[close]
. But anyway, the

Space Travel

segment more than made up for it, and whilst I did sort of see it coming
Spoiler alert
(at least when they were on the ship and Fred Willard hadn't strapped himself in) the rest of the piece

was just beautiful.

Small Man Big Horse

Another game of two halves Brian, though the first one was pretty damn strong, at least until he conveniently ran in to his ex-wife. Still, the smash off was fun, and the way it ended. But it was the second part which reminded me why I love this show so much, the mix of naivety and depravity worked perfectly, and the terrible banter mid-Fuck Off had me in hysterics.

To be honest, although I went to great lengths to make sure I could see this, it was on the basis of the original that I made sure it would get "covered", I haven't gotten around to watching it yet myself.

Yes, you and everyone reading and posting in this thread really should all watch the original, as I haven't watched the US version, I've avoided reading the posts but saw some disappointment and some positivity.

I really felt the writing of the Australian version was very strong and consistently so, I can't recommend it highly enough to be honest!

Ant Farm Keyboard

Another strong episode, with a great third segment ("There all is aching") which might be my favorite so far.
Warning: features Rich Fulcher.

I really liked it, and don't have problems with Rich Fulcher these days (in the past, yes, but I think he's fine in short doses on shows like this) and so enjoyed it a lot. I think it needed to be a less disastrous episode for Forrest, I mean a lot of shit things still happened to him but at least he was still fairly perky by the end of it. I'd like to see the character eventually fall apart, but not this soon. It was nice to see A.J. given a bit more to do in this episode as well, she's been frustratingly underused so far.

I get a "Book of Job" vibe in that show, just like A Serious Man had. When Forrest has a pleasant surprise, like in the beginning of the latest episode, you automatically know there's a catch, and you wonder how awful and devastating it will be. And the other shoe drops, then another, then another one, in some quite artfully arranged progression.
The best parts of it are the quick glances by everybody who knows he's on a self-destructive path. The producer, James Urbaniak, has a vested interest, the co-host and Lucle have realized there's no way to cure his delusion, but can't take their eyes out of the train wreck.

And there was the great turn by the main guest star this week, who nailed the personality twists of her character without dropping a beat. While still looking candid and stunning.

NB: I love that Forrest had random clips of his film reviews framed behind his desk. It tells everything you need to know about him.
