Nick Cave's back with a new album out at the end of September. Well, more of a double album really, the first single of which is released earlier on in the month. A real media to mp3 conversion is available here.

The video to the single, and other stuff including tour info, is available at the official website.

what's happened to his hair, his beautiful hair?

when the vid started off I thought it was Morrissey and then Neil Young.

On a first listen I like it, probably biased though, I can hear twangs of Steve Harley, but then again I did think he looked like Neil Young so I wouldn't listen to me.

Lordy that sounds naff.

Lets see...the last few Cave albums...

Murder Ballads - amazing
The Boatmans Call - completely amazing
No More Shall We Part - Less amazing
Nocturama - Guff

What's happened??

Not the most obvious Nick Cake thread title to find for a bump there fanny.

While it's about here's a link to the new double album , listen in full here

My first impressions are.... long and huh where am I and is this still on?

I liked a couple of the later tracks on CD2 but apart from that nothing leapt out at me, it struck me that the album had bugger all dynamics, it was just a burble of indivisible Cave b-sides. Where was the punch, the lyrics twisting back on themselves, the honest singing with your lungs wide open 'arggh its all shite and we're doomed, doomed I tells ya' but he words it better of course.

I'm sure I'll find something more positive to say after a couple of listens.

this is a weeping fan

Nature Boy is terrific stuff and the nod to Cockney Rebel is apparently intentional.

You took me back to your place/And dressed me up in a deep sea diver's suit.

look at this excellent watercolour of the man that our own verbwhore '9' painted,

the new album is still available to listen to here
