Any Helena Hauff fans in here?

As a producer I find her hit and miss, she's made some great tunes but I'm left a bit cold by some of her other stuff. As a DJ though I think she's fantastic.

The first set I heard that made me take notice was this one, Helena Hauff v Umwelt @ Nuits Sonores 2017. Just relentless tune after tune.

https://soundcloud.com/tracklistings3-0/helena-hauff-vs-umwelt-nuits-sonores-2017

I've seen her live a few times over the last year, including a 5 hour set last Friday, and each time she was just incredible.

There's a lot of hype about her at the moment and it's easy to think she's just the current flavour of the month/flash in the pan but if you get the chance to see her I can't recommend it enough. She more than lives up to the hype imo.

I've said it before and i'll say it again, this may be the best techno concept album of all time. Definitely some of the best music to gym to.

Is there a 'Hip-house/Old Skool Hardcore blend' thread?

I started a hip-house one years ago that died on its arse and MonkfromHavana has a rave/hardcore thread. No blend thread.

Dig up the hip-house thread I say.

umm hey stranger, are you the rotterdam-based dj of the same name or is that a coincidence?

monkfromhavana

Just sounds like dodgy Euro House to me.

I was looking up the tracks from Laurent Garnier's brilliant Essential Mix from 1995 the other night. What a cracker this Stacey Pullen one is

It's weird that I bought the Silent Phase album back in 1997 before I really understood techno. A track featured on one of Kirk Degiorgio's compilations. I thought it a bit too light compared to other things I heard at that time - lacking something fundamental that you could find in e.g., As One's Celestial Soul or Sean Deason's first two albums.

Here is an amazing track by Deason from his first

Nevertheless, a lot of what Pullen has done is very good, not least his DJ mix albums such as DJ Kicks that features Deason and a host of top drawer mid-90s Detroit inspired techno.

Is this the right thread for this? Probably not, but I'm going to post it anyway. One of my house music heroes, it is vaguely technoey for the first half before Romanthony goes all brilliant @ 3.10isht (or cheesy depending on your view) in the second half. Tony Humphries on the mix.

Romanthony - Falling From Grace (Tony Humphries Main Remix)

I Love this track.

OK, its not on Youtube, so another excuse to upload it and post it here

Aaron Carl - Crucified (Maas 'Chi-Lite' Remix)

edit: sorry that is download only, but if you want the file, it's there for 4 weeks.

Ha, alas no. I'm just a London-based nonentity.

Every so often a tune comes along that revitalises your faith in music. This time around it's Dâm-Funk from his latest Architecture II EP, an eager and sublime bassline with skittish drums and flat but melancholic synth line. Brilliant.

New Ross From Friends - Squaz on Flying Lotus' label , is my favourite one from him so far.

A friend of rudi (David Hill) has unearthed this interview recorded about 98, chatting about Geushky, Portsmouth's most successful techno night (95-03) run by residents rudi (Dave Saunders) and Ian Gregory (Ian Void). Shame its not longer, interviewer clearly underestimating Dave's willingness to bang on about music

I didnt understand, two Rudi's? Are we talking about CaB Rudi (RIP)?

phes

Sorry, yes CaB rudi, surname Hill, DJ/producer name Dave Saunders

Popped up on my playlist and sounded familiar, beautiful piece of house from 2015 that builds on a simple piano riff
