Probably posted in here before, but Galaxy 2 Galaxy - Journey Of The Dragons is possibly my favourite techno tune ever.

Yep one of the best pieces of music of any genre.

What I love about the Mad Mike thing I posted is that he could probably whack that out in five minutes and it's still ace.

Yes, it often sounds like he just goes in and turns on the machines and doesn't overthink it,

Been revisiting some old Lil Louis

I'd say, house. I suppose it exists in that grey area that first progressive house and latterly, tech house, were supposed to fill.

Anyway, Blodders, here's one for you

Eat Static - Nucleus Trance

Nice, I haven't got that one, thanks

edit: ahh, have the peel sessions but that track is missing (files, not physical)

UK Techno pioneer Luke Slater is back with a new release on Ostgut Ton.

I'm loving the break-beat tinged number fellow kids:

There's a two hour downloadable (2GB WAV!) mix incorporating the tracks from the EP on Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/ostgutton-official/sets/luke-slater-berghain-fuenfzehn-o-ton-127

Album?

It's listed on Discogs as a double 12" EP.

7 tracks, 52 minutes. That's an album in my book.

It's Theo :)

Theo Parrish - Falling Up (Carl Craig mix) never gets old.

Still a banger! I overplayed this track years ago so gave it a rest; I heard it for the first time in ages the other day and got goosebumps again. Carl Craig is such a consistent favourite of mine - Oscillator and The Climax saw me through a difficult bout of essay marking last week.

I remember sitting in a pub in Covent Garden longingly looking at The Climax 12" I'd just bought. Was having a lovely drink with friends but really just wanted to go home and chuck it on.

Falling Up Carl Craig mix is fantastic but I think I prefer Parrish's original. Like his best stuff it's weird as fuck.

Absolutely, I think I'm destined to spend the rest of my life flip floppin' between the two.

Talking about Luke Slater, I only had his albums but found this EP recently and it does the trick and then some

The 7th Plain - Shades Amaze (De-tuned Version)

Love that cantering drum loop underneath the classic 90s IDM melancholy. Jacking in Outer Space.

Funcrusher

Mike Huckaby dead at 54. Shit.

I mostly know him for the excellent dub-technoish My Life With the Wave, but he did cool deep house and techno stuff as well, and was very active in tutoring up and coming Detroit musicians as I recall. RIP.

I've been digging Japanese DJ/Artist Wata Igarashi quite a bit recently. A purveyor of fine psychedelic, spaced-out techno.

A good showcase of his talents here: https://www.mixcloud.com/residentadvisor/ra617/

I remember being at uni several millennia ago and having a fair few Mike Dred records played to be and me unfailingly thinking that they were absolute toss.

Listened to the Kosmik Kommando album today, and loved this

I reckon that now, with the benefit of hindsight and my tastes maturing over the years, all those Mike Dred records at uni I listened to, I'd probably still think that they were dogshit. But I now don't think that *all* his records are boring minimal claptrap.

Quite like this from another one of those poundshop Orbital clones, Spooky.

I was listening to Joey Beltram dub of The Shamen - Progen and it reminded me if that early Guerilla progressive house sound.

Forever down with the kids, I'm listening to a Dream House compilation.

This is pretty nice, in an inoffensive way (plus it's on Soma)

To be fair, there are some good non-dream house tracks on there (Smokebelch, Sueno Latina, and Terra Firma's 'Floating' which I enjoyed)

From tonight's compilation 'Futuresonics - Techno Vision 01' https://www.discogs.com/Various-Futuresonics-Techno-Vision-01/release/649108, an absolute belter from Dave Angel. I've just got told off for having it too loud over my headphones.

Was reading that Angel used to open up 1200/10s when he came on, pop in a screwdriver and tweak the pitch range up a few %. Apparently it was a recognised phenomenon that djs following him often had a mare and didn't know why.

I'm about a week off pulling the trigger on a pair of reloops after a ten year hiatus and post 40. Mid life crisis, I don't know, but I've been craving mixing for months
