just in case anyone hasn't seen this.

It was made three years ago, with Ryan Reynolds' voice and a totally CGI Deadpool (doesn't look it, mind).

Wow, is the best comment I have.

get a look before Fox gets it taken down. if they do, look elsewhere, because if this was a trailer I would so go and see the movie.

Dammit, been blocked.

Try Googling and see if you can get it.

Never heard of the character before. Made me laugh, though it's hard to see how it could keep that going for the length of a movie.

olliebean

Can't see from watching that why he would need to be CGI.

Nobody apart from comic book nerds have ever heard of Deadpool which shows how desperate Hollywood is for super hero characters. Fucking Deadpool? Who cares? Marvel are still churning out films about characters we might have actually heard of and Superman will be beating the shit out of Batman in 2016. Nobody gives a fuck about pissing Deadpool and his constant wisecracking looks like it could get irritating very quickly.

Sexton Brackets Drugbust

I've always thought Deadpool's essentially just The Mask.

BritishHobo

So is he a really dark and twisted anti-hero, or is he just a  violent Spider-Man with an even more tedious sense of humour?

Mister Six

Violent Spider-Man. The script doing the rounds a couple of years ago was great - irreverent and silly and with some really cool guns. Amazed it's still going, actually. It's been in production since that piss-awful Wolverine Origins movie.

Yes. like Guardians of the... oh.

Deadpool is Marvel's only real popular new creation of the past twenty years, almost on a level with Wolverine himself. He'd play well on the big screen too, with the fourth-wall breaking.

Noodle Lizard

I don't understand why studios are still trying to convince us that Ryan Reynolds is a lead actor.

The Masked Unit

People who like this are what's wrong with the film industry.

He's a fucking shmuck.

Noodle Lizard

I know I've developed a reputation for being a miserable contrarian who blindly hates everything, but that really does look like shit for cunts.

They should start using that technology to make porn, though.

QuoteSo is he a really dark and twisted anti-hero, or is he just a  violent Spider-Man with an even more tedious sense of humour?
In the comic books he's a lot more complicated. At his core though he's a manic-depressive anti-hero. So yes manic but also depressed and introspective  suffering from regret causing innocent deaths, self-loathing and loneliness. In addition to this he has a existential dilemma since meeting Death which leads him to believe that his world is not quite real hence his ability to break the fourth wall as well as taking more callous actions since 'it doesn't really matter'. He's on the brink of insanity.

But adaptations and the Internet have focused on the LOLRANDOM part of his character.

I liked the little drawing he shows the guy as the car is spinning. It's that kind of stupid detail that can lift it out of its self-imposed pit of WISECRACKIN'.

I know nothing of Deadpool but Urinal Cake's description sounds like a good film could come out of it. As long as it wasn't Ryan Reynolds doing his WISECRACKIN' voice.

SteveDave

I know I shouldn't like him but there's something about Ryan Reynolds. I would let him drive.

The Deadpool movie has got the go ahead with a release date of Feb 2016.

Who is going to be starring in it and what rating it will have is yet to be announced.

Claude the Racecar Driving Rockstar Super Sleuth

In Reynold's defence, he was very good in Buried (all the other performances in that film were phoned in). With the floppiness of Green Lantern and R.I.P.D. - and the first Wolverine film being rendered non-canonical by subsequent X-Mens - I'm surprised he'd still be considered for the role, though. If it's all CGI as that test footage looked to be, couldn't they just as easily have Nolan North do it? At least it's not Johnny Depp.

Yeah, everything I've seen (including the test footage) seems to suggest that more recently he's an obnoxiously 'quirky' character, relentless fucking jokes and references and LOLRANDOMNESS. Someone who is just never off when it comes to quipping. Interminable.

Urgh. I hope everyone involved in making that suffers virulent genital warts for the remainder of their existences.

Mister Six

The script for this has been knocking around the internet for a few years (assuming they're using the same one), and it's actually a lot of fun - absurdly violent and irreverent, and not a huge amount like this 'test footage', though the crayon drawing bit is closer to the mark.

lazarou

Okay, so this one's finally coming around as an actual thing pretty shortly.

I'm not super fussed either way, not being a big fan or anything, but I do kind of love this billboard.

That's cleverer than I would've expected, but bear in mind that these kind of meta-marketing campaigns have been known to backfire before - just look at what happened with Nathan Barley.

I am seriously starting to think this might be Marvel Studios' first big flop, based on the fact that 18 cert. superhero films have never traditionally performed very well in the cinema, and that the early trailers have done such a horrible job of selling the concept. It doesn't bode well.

It's not Marvel Studios. It's Fox, the studio that makes the X-Men films. I think it will do pretty well. There's a lot of buzz about it and it was made very cheap for one of these films, so it doesn't need to make Marvel film money to be a success.

Goldentony

I'm wasn't familiar with Deadpool but was vaguely interested in this for the same reasons I was arsed about Guardians Of The Galaxy in that it's some Marvel property but not some obvious one centred around some whinging millionaire gobshite and seemed a bit odd, but everything i've seen from the trailers to the video game to what i've seen of the comics is just fucking irritating and has all the humour and nuance of a fucking webcam Youtube vlogger obsessed with Phantom Menace and The Room. Fucking absolutely irritating as fuck.

I half want it to do alright because I want to see more films made out of odd properties which seemed like a concept that was entirely on it's arse after Dredd, but part of me wants to see vast swathes of people disappointed and upset that shit ming level humour doesn't translate beyond the AVGN movie or Space Cop so i'm stuck on where to stand on this twattery. Those billboards are very good, though.

Glebe

Flippin' test footage taken down!

I do like the billboard actually. I'm not that familiar with Deadpool and I wasn't even particularly impressed with the trailers, but I think I'll prolly give it a go all the same.

Nah, I refuse to believe that someone on the internet has little faith in the supposed quality of an upcoming superhero film. It just doesn't happen.
