EZ Cast - anyone have any experience of set up?

My husband bought one of these to use with his laptop and our TV.  The laptop is a DELL XPS running Windows 8.1.  The TV is a Sony Bravia. 

He managed to get as far as add device but then the display on the TV says 'reconnect your phone' and on the laptop it disconnects.  I've searched on the EZ Cast forum but I can't find anything useful.

He's driving me nuts.

Can any of you help point me in the right direction?
