It's essentially all based on some stuff Gates once said about how reducing disease in third world countries raises their living standards, and higher living standards mean, usually, people have fewer children. What he meant was that vaccines can help children in African and Indian villages grow to be adults, but what anti-vaccine folks heard was "Bill Gates thinks there are too many people and we need to literally murder them with poisoned vaccines in order to depopulate the earth down to a core population about 500 million people". Which is an interesting take I guess. I like all the YouTube videos where people seem to think that a) Bill Gates vowed to murder billions of children in a TED talk and b) that his stated views in the TED talk were a secret that needed to be 'EXPOSED'.

Wow, that's an absurd misunderstanding.

Darn, new page cunt.

Why are you facebook friends with pedro_bear?

Also, yes, I did know that my food is full of chemicals and drugs. I eat my cornflakes a) despite not knowing what pantothenic acid is and b) in a bowl full of wine.

In my case, I have actually suspected I might be. Today's evidence:

Quote
And another thing Nazi Germany was not right wing, it was extreme left wing. Hitler was a socialist. His party was a socialist party. The Green party is a socialist party too. They want to steal our money. Ban page 3. Murder our royal family. Neuter and disarm us and kill any patriots and freedom fighters who object. FACT

Every time the Green Party come up on Facebook, he churns out this stuff, referencing the "fact" that Britain needs more liberal gun laws as well. He's oblivious to the fact that he's not really winning anyone over, though if any Green Party supporter is daft enough to respond, they usually have to deal with some of his Libertarian friends chuckling to themselves.

Happy use of social media involves knowing a bit about which fights are actually worth spending your time on. Surprisingly few are.

Where are the really shitty bullshit logic memes these days- I'm very disappointed in the slack fuckwittery of the general public at not feeding me as much casual sneering material as usual.

A friend of mine is constantly posting shite from a certain page. Further investigation reveals it to be a jarring exercise in pandering tonal shifts.

We go from the hopelessly saccharine

Through the bizarrely inappropriate

To the outright racist

Stopping off at "u ok hun?" junction.

Its bread and butter, though, is "I'm crazy,me! Hoho!" guff like this, which my friend posts constantly:

He is of course the beige-est man alive.

Anyone who writes FACT on the internet is usually writing something that is not a fact

Interesting how that character's facial expressions are oddly applicable to almost any proverb or sentiment you could think off.

To the outright racist

Wait, weren't the minions a presumably immigrant labour force with their own unintelligible language? Seems a bit rich to be giving that kind of narrow-eyed sass to some call centre worker with a thick accent.

Pedro Bear Snr is still having lots of fun on my timeline:

Quote
It's brilliant that more young people "don't believe in handouts and high taxes" it's fucking depressing that they don't have a true libertarian party to vote for. The gods alone know why they think voting Tory is the answer, the Tories are authoritarian socialists, just like all the main parties.

Be interesting to see what this bloke considers a "handout". I presume he is talking about welfare (JSA, for instance, couldn't be defined as a handout as you need to meet conditions and comply with regulations in return for the money). A lot of people who support weflare cuts only do so when they think they won't need welfare.

He's from a posh family. He hasn't really thought about it at all, beyond the fact he believes that under true Libertarian conditions, individuals should collectively be responsible for the goodwill of others, not the state.

To be fair to the bloke, he does regularly volunteer at soup kitchens, so he does in part practice what he preaches - but it's not worth getting into an argument with him about how such a responsibiity-sharing system might work across an entire nation, or how a nationwide network of roads might get maintained or built on a voluntary co-operative basis, because he hasn't a fucking clue and he won't budge anyway.

The great thing is that absolutely nobody agrees with him apart from a few insane Americans he's met online, and he converts nobody to his cause - he's just a harmless idiot who spews this stuff out and only gets himself all worked up. He's not a UKIP campaigner or anything like that, he's just someone hollering into a total vacuum.

It could by them regardless of the circumstances. The problem with these people isn't that they can't understand definitions, it's that they're borderline psychopathic.
