I can't feel that. Im not saying its not good but im just of mindset that doesn't get it but for fast-stumming, tongue-in-cheek, song-writing genius we had this.

Happy Christmas either way. Peace and love.

Ive got my awesome headphones out and this is something else:

Billy Corgan and Smashing Pumpkins I can probably take or leave. But that riff? My god...

Speaking of which....

My Home Is the Sea. Im sure you we could find any footage of Will Oldham online but Matt Sweeney's contribution here raises it.

NoSleep recommended my Denon's years ago and fuck me they are brilliant. Cheers NoSleep. I've even lost my pre-amp.

MuteBanana

Counts because it features live performances.

But how good is this song? Stuning.

Meat Loaf and Marion Raven.

Meat Loaf is so out of shape. He's a fucking mess. But he has passion. He belts out this performance with every ounce of his being. Its incredible.

Probably been posted before but this utterly blistering version of You Can Go Your Own Way. Coked up to to fuck but amazing.

Never been much of a Mac fan but I've recently been quite bewitched by this performance of Dreams. Stevie Nicks is here is mesmerising, her strange slow dance.

She has one of those voices that not only is technically great but she just has a tone and feel that is amazing, sort of like bordering on a rasp but not quite and very sweet with it. Lindsey Buckingham has a great voice too, I'd have him in my classic rock pantheon of top vocalists for sure.

Mr Marcaille - Wall of Death (an overweight man in his underpants in a park, playing a death metal song on a electric cello! and it's fucking great)

a few years ago, the 'classic albums' series rolled around again to 'rumours', & (since I was out having a life) I recorded it. imagine my dismay, upon watching the show later that night with a massive doob, when it turned out that the original snarling bitching accounts, given in separate rooms, had all been excised & here they all were kissy-kissy & polite.

'fuck this', I said, & dug out the original doc. here it is- I put it on vimeo because yt would just take it down again.

Not really live I suppose but Yellow Magic Orchestra on Soul Train is certainly extraordinary

Whilst we're on 70s rock I'm chucking this in (it misses the intro but there we go...)

I was too lazy to drive up to Bristol to see them and regretted it immediately

I fucking love this thread. My best ever, obviously thanks to you lot. An embarrassment of riches - in fact I've queued up a load I've missed and am about to get started. However...

Nick Cave on TOTP circa-1978.

Not even joking, for a while now I've had it in my mind to go back and watch this apparently great Nick Cave performance that everyone's been bumming. Well ha bloody ha. You got me. Bastards.

Here's some Francis Albert Sinatra. There's a better recorded version of Luck Be a Lady (live) on the Standing Room Only album but his cheesy gestures and grin when the brass section goes mental makes it worth it. The musicianship of the band is outstanding. Pretty sure this is the special that was covered in Gay Talese's famous magazine piece about him.

This is astonishing because it's live footage of the Velvet Underground from 1969

From 7:41 in. Doug! Moe! The other two! Shame there's no sound but look at them!

this (the "gibson/rickenbacker" version) has been removed from YT for some reason, & replaced with a badly mixed "fender/fender" take from a week later (iirc) loudly announcing itself as the 'official' version despite the guitar being badly out of tune after the solo. I won't even do it the dignity of linking to it; the one posted here is definitive for me.

Just discovered this band. No idea how the bass player is holding that down it's fucking hard to do that with spot on timing. Love the Rhodes piano too.

Yeah, Dean Town is ace. You've probably already seen the first encore here for example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDL5k9LpZ9w#t=1h22m22s. I'm a sucker for meaty fusion basslines, but I've never seen an audience singing along to one before.
