Absolutely love this. Thank you so much for posting. (I like that turntable post too but prefer this and didn't want to clog up the thread).

It's reminded me of this.

I'm not sure it's astonishing, but quite nice to see Jimmy Somerville doing his backing vocals on this live. https://youtu.be/6XUa00BOL8o
From the same show, their finest moment.

Fucking love this.

I've watched this over a few time and I am troubled. FYC were the bridge weren't they? We had Ska/punk/soul and then we had the likes of Massive Attack and Trip Hop. Musically and lyrically FYC were the gap. I never realised before.

The Roches - Hammond Song

I don't know how I'd never heard this band before. This performance breaks me up.

I first came across this brilliant live version of Chrsity Moore's Viva la quinta brigada at the Barrowlands in Glasgow when the gig was aired on BBC4, i would guess ten years ago. I can be a fussy cunt with left-wing songs when i find they lean towards the sentimental or idolatrous (i've never liked The red flag), but i've always had a soft spot for this. It's such a hair-raiser, a room full of cunts singing at the top of their voice in proclamation of international solidarity.

I was thinking yesterday about how Jeremy Corbyn has won. He may have lost two general elections, but after four years of hatred, bile, lies and smears against him, dragging his name through the mud in a way few individuals have ever had to endure in british history... he still gets up every day and keeps going, keeps fighting, refuses to give up. That is a victory of its own, and that's how i feel about a song like this. Franco may have won the war, but in that room hundreds of people of different ages in a different country glorified the battle against him, spoke the names of those who died fighting him. As long as that flame continues to burn, the republicans still won somewhere.

The editing and production is maybe a wee bit too slick but the performance is intense... the crowd as much as the performers. Bottles and chairs flying everywhere- blimey!

lovely Big Blood playing Oh Country (Skin and Bones) for a college radio

Reminded me of the Mountain Goats (although I'm a one-note bore so what doesn't?)

Give them a go. They're terrific. These are a nice entry point, though their studio stuff has a lot more instrumentation usually.

And this. I feel this should be something all humanity has hard wired into their brains as being one of the great live performances. It's so great. The best pop star at her best. There is something about the sounds of those fans that just makes it so much better. Fuck lip syncing, we need live fans.

This is precisely my vibe when playing SNES Mario Kart: Ghost Valley 2 time trial. I'm currently up to about the 250th fastest time ever but my driving is as wild and wreckless as it is fast.  Love it. :)

This is joyous, storming performance and some fantastic audience participation.

Thanks for posting, that's cheered me right up.

Having a major AC/DC thing right now. Angus going mental like his actual blood is made of rock and roll. Glorious.

Lovely Kevin Ayers speaking en Francais (in French) and looking like a hippy Beck

Ha, that's so fucking astonishingly good. AC/DC may have made the same album over and over again to largely diminishing returns, but that's the sort of behaviour that gives them permission do anything they want. Even the apparently mooted reunion minus Malcolm. Just to get a whiff of that magic again.

Very much "digging" (appreciating) the likes of this from JD Beck and Domi Degalle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qu1Z1Tlzz0E&f=

Another Madonna one. Papa Don't Preach

This is the first time I've ever found Madonna completely exhilarating and cool. Love the dress, the stomping during the chorus, the grit and guts she puts into the vocal, when she sings "PLEEEAAASE" before each chorus you really believe she means it. Outstanding performance.

There is ludicrous technique and then there's this, which maybe one in a billion people at the most can realistically achieve:

Richard Dawson fans. We all know how amazing he is but I think he has topped himself with this. It's from 2018 (I haven't actually seen him in a while as not been loving his recent stuff as much) but this performance seems to take his intensity to another level. I think it's because he is exposing how fucking incredible he is as a guitar player in the first few minutes. That shit guitar has never sounded better.
