That is amazing!
The vocals, the natural rhythm of the bongo man, the bass player's death stare - remarkable!

Are we sure it's not a 'shred'?

If you have the courage, there's another song from the same session in the recommended vids. It's very much real.

Puddle Of Mudd doing a Nirvana cover, with the astonishing thing being that this was ever broadcast. Or that Puddle of Mudd are an actual band who had a record deal and everything.
I thought the Joey Deacon impression was considered disrespectful nowadays.

He's channelling latter day Paul Young.

I like it!

I just know I'm going to keep coming back to that video. Hilarious.

I found a video of them doing it about fifteen years ago and he actually sounds pretty good. A better demonstration about the importance of a singer looking after his/her voice you will not find.

My favourite bit is the flicker of panic you see in his eyes when he immediately starts struggling with the first verse and remembers there are higher notes he's gonna have to navigate coming up in the chorus. The only way this could possibly be improved is if the bongo player was the 'puff puff give' guy from Hannah's Field and it had a "rasta" breakdown in the middle to give Ian Puddle Of Mudd a breather.

His hero Kurt Cobain struggled with some of the notes in the Meat Puppets covers on 'Nirvana : MTV Unplugged' but that gave them a sort of wounded and noble fragility, whereas this sounds like someone who's become so bored they've decided to repeatedly and deliberately sit down hard on their own bollocks.

Sublime stuff, what a find, cheers!

Quote from: Puddle of Mudd's wiki pageSince 2012, Scantlin has been accused on numerous occasions of lip syncing during live performances.[37]

On April 16, 2014, Scantlin had an on-stage meltdown during a show at Trees Dallas, in which he threw a microphone and beer into the audience, as well as appearing to threaten and attempt to physically attack members of the audience. He also received criticism as he appeared to be lip-syncing during the performance.[38]

On June 20, 2015, the band was booed off stage at a show in Versailles, Ohio, after Scantlin was spotted lip-syncing to the songs. In response to the social media backlash, the band subsequently deleted their Facebook page.[39][40] With the Facebook page available, the band Black Heart Saints gained access as an opportunity to promote their music using the page title "Check This Band Out Instead",[41] although later Puddle of Mudd decided to use the page again.

Fascinating.

The cuts to the incredibly unimpressive bongo closeup shots have to be seen to be believed!

alan nagsworth

Yeah in the performance of "Blurry" (from the same session) the bongo player looks at him at 00:53 like "I swear to god if he goes up an octave for this chorus I'm fucking launching the cunt".

Pauline Walnuts

I bet if Kurt hadn't take the cowards way out he'd be sounding just like that by now.

And a performance like that would have been the best thing he'd done in years.

Dr Syntax Head

All those bands had such terrible names didn't they? Puddle of mud, limp bizkit, papa roach, creed, godsmack..... fuck sakes

Nah. Upon hearing the bands the followed the 'grunge' thing who kept going on about what an influence Nirvana were he would have offed himself

Pauline Walnuts

Actually, he'd just be coming out of prison after shooting his wife by now wouldn't he?

Puddle of Mudd might well be the shittest named band to have had any measure of success.

Hmm that gives me a thread idea..

I've always loved this performance by Ween, something a little special like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzYykIA1xVg Its unique because of the environment...the host is weirdly actually quite encouraging, but I love the cynicism of audience and then the two stoner mess dweebs pull out it out of the bag; replicating an equisite soulful soung. hahaha absolute magic :)

p.s bit fucked so sorry if my sentences are structured in a disapproving way
p.p.s Never go on here on my laptop...it is so much easier to use

Also I think that Richard Dawson performance is wicked, if a very difficult listen..but I like that about it

hummingofevil

And add me to the list of people who have just fallen about laughing at Puddle of Shit.

P.s  Mainly for nags but Rina Sawayama's album has literally been released 22 mins ago. Just stuck it on.

After hearing this I've come to the conclusion that no one else can really play it. That cadenza!? Like the gates of hell opening..

This is from the Soul to Soul concert in Ghana that I was after a while back. I ended up buying it and having to rip it as I've not region free'd my bluray player. If anyone wants it I'd be happy to upload it somewhere.

Done!

Seeing as I pulled it out this is the running order:

This is a nice one, bit of overtly left wing folk music.

Just realized I know the compere, that's the kind of small town pinko I am.

The guitarist old enough to not have blue hair is smirking his face off throughout. "I said it was too high for you Jeff"

Just total gash, the macho(smaller head) is tuned way low aswell and what the fuck fairy tapping pattern even is he even playing... The drum has no place in this style of music in the first place.

Anyway, Billy Strings does "The Tennessee stud" and its so tight.

Maybe this has been done in the previous 16 pages, but there's a lot of blind links so I don't fucking know

Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band on German TV in 1972

Amazing stuff, and Rockette Morton is out of this world. Check the drummer's attire as well.

Hope it hasn't been posted before, but this 11-minute clip from a 1967 battle of the bands in Croton-on-Hudson is just wonderful

Mr Farenheit

Was watching the Voices of East Harlem from the same concert in Ghana as the Wilson Pickett clip posted before. Had never heard of them before.

Amazing stuff but I think I might like this concert in Sing Sing prison even more

Prisoners jumping out of their seats dancing around to militant political songs- seems inconceivable they'd allow something similar these days.
