Gulftastic

In the wake of Little Richard's passing the entire Granada special is now on youtube

Also features The Shirelles.

I've said it before, but he was force of fucking nature.

A live rendition of a song from Corpo-Mente, one of Gautier Serre's projects with the fucking incredible Laure Le Prunenec. So much to enjoy in this, apart from the amazing sound of it - the build up, the scream at the release, the drummer's shit-eating grin, her voice breaking, the tears in her eyes at the end, Laure momentarily taking her headphones off so she can headbang to the music, it's just fucking perfect.

Astonishing that this was on British TV. I was 16 when this was on, would have been out gooning about, not watching television, and had another two or three years before I was aware of Killdozer. Vaguely remember this programme. Wasn't that Gary something on it?

David Rodigan handing local sound crews arses to them is a peculiar and wonderful thing. Look at him once the crowd is on side, just absolutely loving it.

This is up in full. If you're a fan of fusion, Carnatic, Shakti, McLaughlin, or just virtuosic, spiritual music, this is a must. Last two tunes, in particular, are stratospheric.

He was always a highlight at Bestival.

Keebleman

Birdhouse in Your Soul has never struck me as a song that could work particularly well live, but this big band arrangement is fantastic.

Dirty Boy

Puffy the machine and elastic Mike (Is he crying at the end?)

I wish there were more pro-shot AD/KFAD era shows out there, most of the audio i have from those years is phenomenal (Phoenix 95 fer'instance).

Anyway, this might not count as the video is from a bunch of different shows, but this version of The Glowing Man knocks my block off.

Not live, but astonishing. Play it as loud as you can cope with:

Swinging like a bull's clackers.

Victor Jara a year before Pinochet had him tortured and murdered. I dunno, the beauty of some compared to the filth of others.

All of this Buckethead performance, really, just any of the time stamps in the comments.

The Bevis Frond - He'd be a Diamond

Wurzelly looking buggers, but this is a good rendition of an excellent song.

ah, that's great stuff, I was lucky enough to catch them live once, supporting Bowie in 1987, they were really good.

As I expected Buckethead has released about 300 albums.  Can anyone tell me where to start?

Apols if you've already had it but I'm a big fan of this un - whether you like the song or not, it's an absolutely fascinating time-capsule. "More innocent time" may be a cliche and bollocks in some senses but you see the truth of it here - how easy it was to freak kids out in the 60's. Some are taking it as fun but some of them look like they think they might be seeing Satan in the flesh or something. Also love the intimate single-cam type vibez:

Absolutely lacerating psychedelia, I haven't taken acid in 25 years but I imagine this would be amazing to listen to on it.

I love 'Colma.'

Cuellar

Rosalía & Raül Refree

I find the stuff Rosalía's done with e.g. Travis Scott quite tepid. The Los Ángeles album, her Raül Refree doing flamenco is great though. Just her raw power, amazing.

I remember once being on acid with a couple of people and wondering what to put on, so we went on YouTube, typed in 'live music' and this Janice Joplin video popped up. Instantly turned me into a fan and I've watched / listened to it many times since. Be warned that there's a German interview in the middle.

I once watched them from side-stage at a festival (on this tour actually) and at one point was so locked in that I estimate I didn't have a sip of my drink for about 45 mins. I also know the guy who shot that, cool guy from Rennes.

I queued up to see them at Roadburn because they had a good write-up but I gave up. Only first actually listened to them in 2020.
