Thanks.  After a quick comparison, the Queen Iris one is twice as long as the the other copy.  And 'Exploding Stomachs' doesn't ring a bell so it's either new to me or I know it as a different title.  I'll listen to it later, don't have time right now.

Also came across this:

Anyone know about this??

It doesn't give any information that I can find.  If I had to guess, I'd guess it'll turn out to be the 25-episode Creation Podcast set that also ended up being rebroadcast on the BBC a year or so ago.  It says it'll be available tomorrow so I guess we'll check it tomorrow.

I think you'll know the Exploding Stomachs episodes under 'The Thing That Went URP' :-)

Just out of interest with the radio station playing Kremmen episodes they're on Facebook claiming they have every episode made! I find this a little hard to believe, but then again... (image below is a snippet from their FB page)

Los Angeles DJ Gary Owens (which is where the Kremmen name came from)...

Just to say that this is Gary "Morgul the Friendly Drelb" Owens, the announcer from Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In. Which is nice.

A few days later it still says it'll be available "tomorrow", so it's probably a scam to con you into signing up.

I realise now that I have "Exploding stomachs and the Krells (International version)" lasting about 20 minutes, from the Stephen Sykes webpage.  (Can't say I've ever heard of "The Thing That Went URP".  EDIT: Oh you mean the sample, I thought you meant it as an episode/series title.)

Having every episode?  I'd be surprised.  Is that where your recent uploads came from?

Winegums100

No - I had those episodes kicking around some time ago from a friend who had them. I just thought I'd upload them for others to hear!

I may contact the radio station and ask about the Kremmen episodes they're broadcasting (I haven't caught it yet as I'm at work).

Kremmen seems to have been re-edited and aired in so many different versions, it's a shame there's very little information about it apart from what can be gleaned from the available recordings.

After his death Everett's archive was given to the British Library Sound Archive. Their online catalogue suggests that they don't have much info beyond what's scrawled on the tape boxes but there's six individual reels listed with a series on each plus (if I'm counting and reading right) four other reels with mostly alternative edits.

I'd like to see that, do you have a link. (I did Google up two links which looked like they were the British Library Sound Archive but my searches produced no results.)

Go to either http://cadensa.bl.uk/cgi-bin/webcat (hideous 1990s interface) or http://explore.bl.uk (not quite so ancient but still horrible interface) and enter 'Captain Kremmen' in the search box.

Now wouldn't this be awesome to grab copies of these??

JesusAndYourBush

Ah, I was hoping there'd be any info at all that might help sort out such things as the correct titles, running order etc, but it looks like Kenny didn't label his tapes sufficiently, like many other people.

Around twenty years ago I edited together a compilation from Everett's late seventies / early eighties Capital Radio days. Last week I refound the masters of the original clips I'd used along with some other material I'd come across since, so I've done a new, more comprehensive edit.

Nobody comes close to his radio production genius.

Many thanks for this - Kenny was a master at editing, and considering he did most of this on multi-track recorders before the words "digital sampling" was even mentioned!

Hey guys, been on and off this website, finding the missing gems of Kremmen recordings. I did a little further digging into the previously mentioned radio station, and found they are still airing them! They are currently towards the end of "Double Trouble".
I'm actually playing the radio stream through VLC Player, using the link they provide on their facebook page. Then I use Recordify to capture the audio and convert to FLAC (even though the stream can only be 128kbps mp3..... but just for future editing purposes!). The episodes appear to be the International versions. I managed to grab the episodes from when Kremmen takes off to chase his double, but I missed out on the latest. Really annoyed about that!
They air the episodes everyday, except Saturday, at about 7.00am GMT. Here's a link to show you wants been played throughout the week - https://onlineradiobox.com/nz/heads1064/playlist/?cs=nz.heads1064
They play a trailer, then a silly advert, followed by an episode. I like to edit the recording to just be the trailer and the episode as separate FLAC files.
Hopefully someone else can try to grab, since I can't be sure I can always record them. At some future point I hope to share these files.
I have noticed some strange background thumping noise (especially at the start and end of the episode). Could be the quality of the source tapes the radio station is using. Its still listenable, and a marked quality improvement over the MP3's I downloaded as linked on earlier posts. (A special thanks to JesusAndYourBush for those by the way!)

What's the stream link, I couldn't find it on facebook.

I think if you used Streamwriter you could set it up to automatically record episodes, assuming it's always on at the same time?

atomicmaniac

Just click on the Listen Live link on their Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/Heads106.4FM/app/208195102528120/
Thanks for the advice on Streamwriter. Tried it, and searched for Heads FM, and its there.
Gotta decide if I use that and save as MP3, or continue to save as a flossy FLAC. (I like to keep the raw episodes, but also edit them to a complete story. The International versions are a little hard to listen to cause they were carved up badly, and are very repetitive.)

sirhenry

Just happened across this page (http://muuta.net/KennyEverett/CaptainKremmen.html) which contains a list of Kremmen radio, tv and other bits and bats. As it's 9 years since it was last updated I'm guessing that the torrent links are no longer valid, but the youtube links to the animations are.

When I did a Kremmen show on CaB Radio I also found loads of episodes (with little or no organisation or provenance) on archive.org, which I didn't notice being mentioned in this thread and should still be around.
