Brian Conley. He was massive at one point. Then everyone forgot he ever existed.

Went to see him in a panto when I was 7. I didn't get him. Turns out he's just shite.

Didn't he go into theatre work?

Now hangs about London hoping that FHM still have a tiny bit of space to fill.

hahah that's brilliant, it's not like they're even doing a thing with all famous people as normals (which would be a good idea), just an unspecified JLC.

He had a successful career and retired. Why do all these people have to sustain popularity to the grave?

SIX series on BBC TV, and then?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kelly_Monteith[nb]The length of his Wikipedia entry tells you all you need to know[/nb]

I recently sent off for his self financed movie A Lousy 10 Grand and I received it with a lovely hand written note.

Leave him alone. He did/does alright.

Ballad of Ballard Berkley

Bradley Walsh has wisely forsaken comedy to carve out a successful career as a legit, and rather good, dramatic actor. Not only was he a regular in Coronation Street for years, he was also the only good thing about Law & Order: UK. Be fair, faint praise is still praise.

So don't you dare say anything beastly about my beloved Bradley Walsh.

His brilliant acting skills certainly couldn't have been involved while engaging in this obviously real laughing fit that was in no way a cheap attempt to create a viral moment.

Tera Patrick the porn star or Tara Reid the train wreck?

Hah, I dun goofed. Tara Reid was indeed who I... meaned.

As for Spears:

She's going to be on the new Giorgio Moroder album, which may help her publicity (and credibility?)-wise - otherwise, she seems destined to be in a Las Vegas residency for the rest of her days.

'Appearing on other people's albums.' Might as well read: 'Is a content-free parasite.' Vegas sounds about right for her. She'll fit in there, she could be the fat hick queen of the desert.

Don't you dare say anything beastly about my beloved Britney Spears.

Sexton Brackets Drugbust

Who was that Impressionist who won Britains got Talent or some shit? He was vaunted by ITV, had a load of good will in the bank with the public and was given his own prime time special, which bombed, causing him to sink without trace.

Still more famous than Bradley Walsh.

I'm glad he's not still famous, because if he were, my father might still be saying 'It's a pappaaaaahhht!' every five minutes for no fucking reason whatsoever.

Paul Squires.

He blotted his copybook by brokering deals for his own TV special with both the BBC and Central TV. The two shows got made and went out within months of each other. Both stations were not happy.

Shortly after, he disappeared into the world of cruise-ships, panto and relative obscurity.  Hardly, anything about him online but there's a nice interview from 2013.

Following on from the thread recently about musical interludes in comedy, I note that his show featured the talents of Wall Street Crash.

I think that's the first time I've seen his name not preceded by 'rubberfaced funnyman'

Conley is also massive in pantoland. He makes a huge, huge amount of money from it. He gets a straight cut from the box office and it's the most lucrative live theatre you can make, I think (8 shows a week in massive 1000-seater-plus venues).

Justin Lee Collins is the best example so far. Am I right in thinking he was mostly forgotten even before his court case? I can't see his name without thinking of this post from another forum in 2008

QuoteToday I was chatting to my sister and I told her I'd seen Justin Lee Collins in the crowd when I was at Wembley last weekend. She said every time she goes to Park Street and Whiteladies Road [two very studenty thoroughfares in Bristol] she sees him. We hatched a theory that he walks continually up and down Park Street in an effort to get adulation from his public.

Anyway, today I was in Park Street and who should I see but JLC - he's shorter and fatter than you might think.

Maybe our theory is correct!

I don't know why but that post from another forum looks familiar, not Urban75 or maybe Choke is it?

Anyway, I spotted JLC on Whiteladies as well a few years back...

He did have a reputation in Bristol for drawing attention to himself, like, if you were within 50ft of him you'd know about it. I never had the dubious pleasure in my year of living there though.

His career was on the skids a good couple of years before the revelations about him being a massive creepy abusive dick came out. That was 2012, and the last notable thing he did was the Friday/Sunday Night Project which fizzled out in 2009. He had his own chat show after that, but it was on ITV2 and nobody really cared, then he signed a deal with Five, leading to this bleak-as-heck bit of Wikipedia:

QuoteOn joining Five he hosted the game show Heads Or Tails, where players can win up to £1m by correctly calling coin flips and a chat show called Good Times which has since been cancelled due to poor viewing figures

Bradley Walsh is the best game show host of his generation

Paul Burling. Last seen being thrown a bone by Harry Hill in The Harry Hill Story or whatever that faux retrospective was called. He was in it for about 10 seconds, playing Harry Hill. I spotted this and tweeted about and his wife faved it.

The chap who posted it might well be on here, although it looks as if he was far from the only one to make that observation. He called himself The Dude on that forum and worked for the BBC.

Matthew Kelly's career and profile  took an irreversible nose dive after his arrest. He wasn't even charged with anything in the end, but it finished him off for good. From prime-time Saturday night to TV oblivion.

Uncle TechTip

Matthew Kelly returned to theatre to much acclaim.

Joe Pasquale did it twice, first when in partnership with Bradley Walsh, he struck out on his own then slowly fell into obscurity. But then BAM! He wins I'm a Celeb by talking about his testicles and he's back on top of the world. For about a month, then he slips from view again. I last heard him voicing personal injury claim adverts on ITV2.

Impressionists shouldn't have careers in this day and age anyway. We have about five impressionists already and that's easily five more than anyone ever needs.
