Some of the cast have said that they only would have agreed to do this sequel if they were presented with an amazing script and story - and they were apparently. I have reasonable hopes for it. I trust Danny Boyle not to cock it up. I've enjoyed most of his films at some level or other. I even quite liked A Life Less Ordinary.

Be interesting to see what sort of movie T2 is. Will they continue with the quick fire comic book style of the first film or will they be bold and go for something totally different. The latter would be more of a gamble for sure.

I think they should definitely keep the final scene from the book - however they get there. It's a great moment.

One problem with adapting 'Porno' is that the book is set in a time before internet pornography had become the norm. I mean fuck, you even have Begbie discussing mobile phones as if they're a novelty.

It's not an adaptation of Porno though, it supposedly just has a few elements from that book so that it doesn't contradict that version of the characters.  Which could be bad enough, admittedly.

Someone I vaguely know on Facebook met Danny Boyle in a pub on Leith walk a week or so ago.

You mate's having you on, that's Sean Lock. Or is that the joke?

mobias

Looks a bit like Sean Lock. Its Danny Boyle in a pub called Woodland Creatures. They filmed down the road and apparently the pub invited them all up for drinks.

Glebe

Oasis snubbed Trainspotting soundtrack over rail geeks gaffe.

QuoteThe story was revealed during a question and answer session with Trainspotting producer Andrew Macdonald and costume designer Rachel Fleming at a 20th-anniversary screening of the movie.

Fleming then said: "I met Noel at a thing the other week and he said to me 'I would have done something but honestly I thought it was about train spotters. I didn't know'. That's what he actually said."

That's fantastic, that is.

QuoteMacdonald also revealed that Lou Reed, whose song Perfect Day was used, never liked the film.

Hmm, that's interesting. It certainly brought him back into the commercial limelight a bit, with 'Perfect Day' and all. Iggy unashamedly enjoyed cashing in on the use of 'Lust for Life'.

mobias

To be fair Lou Reed never liked anything. Ever.

madhair60

I very much doubt he even likes being dead.

I very much doubt he even likes being dead.

He's stubborn enough to pretend to enjoy it.

As a fan of the original I'll be pretending this doesn't exist.

Gulftastic

In a scene in this week's US paced 'Once Upon A Time', Robert Carlyle, who plays Mr Gold/Rumplestiltskin, cut his previously shoulder length hair down to Begbie levels. I assume it was for filming Trainspotting 2.

Official trailer due tomorrow according to a T2 Facebook post. Doesn't seem to be much else on the net confirming this though

Fingers crossed!

CaledonianGonzo

I'll be reserving judgment until the reviews are out, I think.

Jobey

That got me very excited and made me feel fucking ancient in the process.

phantom_power

That trailer looks promising. They seem to have kept the spirit of the original film while updating it to suit the characters ages and the world today

Uncle TechTip

Choose Facebook, choose twi'ar made my heart sink a little bit.

Puce Moment

I found all the call-backs quite annoying - especially given that Porno is refreshingly free of little nods.

An LA lifestyle seems to have done wonders for Renton, Sickboy and Spud.

Malcy

Think the film will be great but the trailer was shite.

Beagle 2

I've just cringed my back out watching that.

Shaky

So many clunky nods in there it's a real worry the whole film will be like that. "What you been up to... FOR TWENTY YEARS?" Fuck off.

But modern trailers and all that... generally rubbish.

Beagle 2

Honestly that was all like a fan-made parody.

Glebe

This'll be all a bit meh, I reckon.

Serge

Seasoned hack Boyle has now been in the filmmaking business for so long that rather than ripping off other people, he's just ripping himself off. At least we now know that Kelly MacDonald is in it (probably as a cameo, going by that trailer.)

Large Noise

Quite like the 2nd half of the trailer (from about 1:08) with the Wolf Alice song. I think that works well and looks like more than just a rehash.

Agree that it doesn't look great in general though.

In my experience, former smackheads from the scheme aren't really arsed about twitter one way or the other.

Beagle 2

"Choose Twitter, choose Instagram... er... Tinder... Great British Bake Off, oh jings that's finished... choose Brexit, um, Pokemon Go? This used to be all fields... who remembers Supergran?"

mobias

I thought the opening was a bit naff but the rest seemed ok. They have to sell it on its familiarity I suppose.  I love the first film but lets face it its not some untouchable cinematic masterpiece. I expect the sequel will be enjoyable enough and a film very much of its time, just as the original was.

I'm just looking forward to seeing a film set in Edinburgh actually filmed in Edinburgh this time and it looked like there's plenty of good footage of the city there.

Noodle Lizard

Oooooo I dunno.  Might be alright.
