One of the great things about Youtube and the internet is that you can find tutorials on things that previously would be unavailable to people not studying specific subjects at university or wherever.

Here is a really good video talking about the use of colour in films:

That all may be pretty obvious to some on here but to someone like me who doesn't delve into film theory too much it is very enlightening and shows how much thought goes into even the smallest details when making a good film.

Any other good film theory videos you would like to share? Or bad ones (this is CaB after all)?

Sam

I love the 'Every Frame A Painting' series. Smug and enlightening in equal measures. They've been linked to on here a few times by others and me.

I second Every Frame:

This one on The Bad Sleep Well (1960) simply and clearly explains something that pretty much everyone not schooled in the art would probably miss:

East of Eden

I love the in-depth scene analyis videos. Shot-by-shot and moment-by-moment stuff. Taking a 5 minute scene and expounding for 20 minutes.

A personal fave is this one for Jaws - https://vimeo.com/122479442

I just watched the video you linked to, and ended up watching another seven or eight immediately afterwards. Fascinating series- some things I had noticed but not been able to put into words, others I hadn't even realised. Thanks for linking, and thanks to Sam for the initial recommendation.
