Andrei Rublev
What a fucking unrewarding bore... some gorgeous shots but I could watch one of his later shorter colour films for an even better dosage of that.
To be honest it mostly felt like an artefact, a film that would've been an awful lot more interesting before dudes like Bela Tarr, who I imagine was a huge fan of this film

George White

Watched nice Somerset Maughamtology Encore (Noel Purcell! as the sea captain trying to get rid of Kay Walsh via a romance! Wahey!),predictable morale-booster with Robert Donat the Adventures of Tartu, and the Beachcomber with Charles laughton and has a weird, nice claustrophobic feel which lends to the idea of being trapped. Also features Elsa Lanchester, Mrs. Laughton/the Bride herself, who I also saw in pleasing but rather silly Hitler assassination comedy Passport to Destiny. It's as if the US wanted to make an Old Mother Riley film, casting a rather attractive woman in the lead.
