For those times when you go, "Hmmm, dunno were to post this and it's maybe not worth starting a new topic for, but it's prolly worth a post".

"You're Gonna Need a Bigger Boat": 'Jaws' Writer Reveals Origins of Movie's Famous Line.

QuoteGottlieb recalls: "[Richard] Zanuck and [David] Brown were very stingy producers, so everyone kept telling them, 'You're gonna need a bigger boat.' It became a catchphrase for anytime anything went wrong — if lunch was late or the swells were rocking the camera, someone would say, 'You're gonna need a bigger boat.'"

Exclusive: Arnold to Discuss "The Predator" with Director Shane Black!

QuoteSchwarzenegger:  "I haven't talked with him (Shane Black) yet but I'm going to meet with him for lunch sometime soon. Just as soon as I'm finished with this (Arnold's Sports Festival) and "The Apprentice" and all this stuff. But I will get together with him. If there is any news, we'll of course let you know right away. There's also a meeting coming up soon about Conan,, about the project moving forward."

One of the classic cases of continuity gaffes in movies:

Eagle eyed viewers might have noticed that the bird in The Crying Game actually has a cock!

"BOOOOOOOOO!!"

I mean, "Bird, is that Crying Game a good movie. Cock.".

"YAAAAAAAAAAAY!!"

This may actually warrant it's own thread, but I've nowt much to say about it except fair dos to him/her:

There, see, that totally explains it. Only way same alleged dudes could make those totally kick-ass Matrix movies and that faggoty gay-ass Cloud Atlas shit would be if they were actually chicks with dicks.

Can we have "random movie observations" as well?

Re-watching Shrek at the weekend, I couldn't help but notice that Fiona's transformation was nicked wholesale by the new Doctor Who for it's regeneration scenes.

Bit of a google suggests I'm (very) late to the party with this, but hey ho.

According to this Complete Conceptual History of the Millennium Falcon, the original design of the ship was junked at a very late stage when George Lucas noticed it closely resembled the Eagle craft in Space 1999. There's even a hint that the name 'Millennium' Falcon was chosen to put it one year ahead of Gerry Anderson's show.

The original Falcon design was adapted slightly and became the Alliance blockade runner seen at the start of Star Wars.

J.J. Abrams Worked on an Outline For a 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit?' Sequel.

QuoteI've told this story before, but when I was 16 Kathleen Kennedy called Matt Reeves (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) and I, to ask if we would repair these 8mm films Steven had made when he was a kid. It happened because we were in a film festival and she had read about us in the LA Times. So, of course, we said yes and did the repairs. Years later I got to meet Steven. I went into a meeting...actually, it was for a Roger Rabbit sequel. It was a whole thing. I actually have some storyboards for a Roger Rabbit short. Honestly, we never really got to that phase [where it got serious]. We were writing an outline, but it honestly went away before it was anything. This was a long time ago. Zemeckis probably would've been a producer on it. This was 1989.

We were talking about the movie, but they had an idea for this short. I remember going to the animators — and I had never seen an animation pitch before — and they took me through it. There were three giant boards, and with a stick, they'd point to one of the storyboards and perform every frame. For someone who knows animation, you think, 'Yeah, that's what they do,' but having never seen it before, it was unbelievably entertaining watching these two men perform, doing the voices.

Quote from: Steven on March 17, 2016, 11:23:54 AMYeah they did an early CGI test back in the 90s which didn't look too bad.

Yeah, that's not the worst. I'm not sure if it's even on the cards, but with a decent script a sequel wouldn't necessarily be a terrible prospect.

Exclusive: '300' Sequels Could Go Beyond Ancient Greece Says Zack Snyder.

QuoteDo you think there will be another 300?

ZACK SNYDER: There may be. There may be. We've been talking a lot about sort of different incarnations of 300. We've been talking about is there a way, possibly, we move out of Ancient Greece and use it as a framing device for other conflicts that happened throughout history.

I think I mentioned that we talked about the Revolutionary War version, and we talked about the Alamo, and we've talked about there's a battle in China, a "Lost Legion" kind of concept, any of those kinds of things are on the table.

Yeah, let's turn the whole of history into a slo-mo action cartoon, ffs. Mate.

KINGSGLAIVE FINAL FANTASY XV- Official Teaser Trailer (2016).

Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within was well made but kinda boring, while Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children was cack. This is visually impressive, but  otherwise seems pretty run-of-the-mill.

The One Thing Morgan Freeman Still Thinks Is Terrible About The Shawshank Redemption.

QuoteThe original title [of Stephen King's short story] was ... 'Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption.' Now, don't choose 'Shawshank Redemption' when you've got Rita Hayworth! But they said when I complained — and I did — that it won't fit on the marquee. So what? Just put 'Rita Hayworth...' You've got the one-sheet there, it'll say the rest of it! But they chose not to, and so it took a while to catch on.

Er... no.

phantom_power

Yeah, retaining the Rita Hayworth bit would have been equally confusing. They should have just given the film a different title altogether if they were worried about it. The original name is fine for a short story but not for a film

I really wish I could tell you it would have made sense. I really wish that. But Andy got confused when I told him and thought it was a biopic about the legendary beauty.

Crabwalk

They should have called it something enigmatic but with an element of foreshadowing like 'Up The Shitpipe'. It wouldn't have flopped then.

It's actually amazing that Shawshank Redemption got made at all, considering for a long time the picture had no backing.

Sorry.

"Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption" sounds like the kind of name they'd use for one of those quirky 90s chick-flick road movies that starred people like, I dunno, Christine Lahti.
