can someone tell me where to find the 'I found it all in Sunderland' song, it has been taken off youtube and I think it was maybe my favourite 3 minutes of Bob

Episode 58, around the 12 minute mark!

The Culture Bunker

There was a youtube compilation, now apparently gone, of Bob's Sunderland songs:

"Come to Sunderland"
"Fun Bus"
"Andy Lives in Sunderland"
"Coleen (My Sunderland Girl)"

Maybe some others - they should get it on Bandcamp or whatever. I would buy it.

dr beat

New compilation out for the Patreons - its unusual...but I liiiiiikkkkee ittttt!

Kankurette

Fun Bus is annoyingly catchy.

dr beat

Maybe one for a separate thread in due course, but I saw yesterday that Bob's book should be out in mid-September.

Pre-ordered a signed copy.
Probably looking forward to the audiobook more though.

Stoneage Dinosaurs

Posting in here cause I don't think it's worth a whole thread but there isn't a dedicated Bob thread but Bob was on the latest Off Menu podcast with James Acaster and Ed Gamble, talking about food and that. Don't know how people feel about that podcast but I thought that particular episode was an absolute joy, particularly for Bob's mad surreal tangents and that. Nice little  Peter Beardsley cameo in the second half too.

Anyway back on topic, I've been enjoying the Geordie Heat segment a lot in the recent ones

Superb episode. "He's kept the genie on the bench!"

Assume Bob just forgot Martin had visited the Beardsleys before when writing the bit for the new episode since it wasn't referenced in any way. Still hilarious though, if kinda similar to the first one. Loved Geordie Heat and Steve and Casper too. Almost makes up for the scarcity of episodes these days.

DrGreggles

Geordie Heat is reliably fucking hilarious.

Whither Neil Hunt though?

non capisco

I've felt like it's been running on steam a bit for a period but really enjoyed the latest one, best episode they've done for a long while. Sting with the Stotts' voice and his lute offences (and Andy not being able to contain himself in the background) was the highlight, Steve and Casper's song a very close second.

mr. logic

Casper's voice is hilarious. An inspired choice.

WHY IS ANDY DAWSON STILL DOING THOSE GODAWFUL CORBYN 'SKETCHES'?!?!?! CAN'T BOB STOP HIM?!?! JESUS CHRIST!!!

Captain Z

I'm a couple of months behind, but at some point since Bob last did one of his 'John Cooper Clarke' poems, I have actually become aware of who JCC is. This made the bit 10 times funnier, and precisely sums up my problem with this kind of stuff as Bob's casual piss-taking parody is literally indistinguishable from the real thing.

Skip these bits. Painfully unfunny.

Had been cagey about checking this out as I mistakenly thought soccerball knowledge / interest was required but listened to the most recent one and really enjoyed it. So how would people suggest approaching the old episodes?

I'd listen to all of them from the French hotel room episode onwards.

Kankurette

I hate the Corbyn bits. He's not a footballer! What the fuck has he got to do with anything?

PlanktonSideburns

Feel like andys kids are warhammer playing corbinytes

BeardFaceMan

It was funny seeing everybody's bemused faces when Bob did one of the AM quizzes on a panel show recently. It's such a joy seeing him in full flow like that.

100% this. Episode 15 it is, My Jambon Hell. Not that the earlier stuff isn't worth listening to at all, but it's something to come back to later down the line.

Shit Good Nose

Yeah, Jambon Hell is the first notable one, but they start to drop the "serious" football chat from episode 8 if memory serves, and by episode 10 or 11 they've pretty much given up with it completely.

Thanks for the recommendation folks. Listened to that and the helpless LOL moments were

Ballad of Ballard Berkley

To the surprise of no one who follows him on social media, Andy just confirmed that he has a role in Ken Loach's forthcoming film, The Old Oak. So that's nice, isn't it Andrew?

9 months ago and I'm pretty sure he's still doing them.

If I don't see an alsatian in a pram I'll be demanding my money back.

Povidone

As someone who was very pro-corbyn and aware of Andy's asinine centrist dad politics I still kind of liked the early Corbyn routines. Billy Bragg away for a shit and that. There was a tenuous attempt to do something along the lines of what Bob does and he very nearly got there.

But yeah, years later with no innovation and also just not being capable of humour that sits well in comparison to Bobs..maybe it's time he gives it a rest and just reads the scripts when Bob can't be arsed or has a cold.

He can keep doing the quizzes as well, those are fun, Bob's genuine joy at getting a go at Play Your Cards Right is beautiful.

Sonny_Jim

For me, the characters are just that, characters.  When Corbyn does his 'seen you', I don't think the real Corbyn acts like that, it's just a silly character.  So it really makes no difference who the characters are based upon to me.

Peter Beardsley probably definitely likes having a good stare though.
