I wasn't too keen on LV in SA. It seemed much less alive than the other cities. It didn't seem to be inhabited by a cast of characters going about their business. It basically just seemed to be a rather bland set of buildings constructed around the two big casinos, and didn't hold much excitement or interest. Of all the cities, LS was my favourite. At the start of the game you get a sense of being in a real city with different gangs competing for power over different areas of the city. It seems the most comprehensive of them all, with different areas feeling different. It has posher areas, poorer areas, industrial areas, parks and beaches. It just seems like a real place. I really liked the vast countryside too though. It was amazing to feel you could just go for a drive through countryside and not reach some barrier at the edge of the world.

Also, SA has to be the best game because it has Toreno in it. What a great character!

SA was so much better than the last two. However all the games are crying out for a level select.

I hope in the next one you actually have to use some skill in gun fights, in SA even the final boss can be beaten by simply holding down R1 and O.

I sold my copy after finishing it but looking back on it with hindsight, I think the game peaked too early.  All the ideas are essentially used up by the time you leave LA for the first time.  After that point it's not really any different to any of the other GTA games.

Apologies for dragging this thread back up, but I re-installed this tonight, looking for some GTA action, but have forgotten how I got my joypad to work for it (on PC, obviously). I can use the right analogue stick to look from right to left but up and down won't work. I remember I did something last time to make it work, but I can't for the life of me remember what, having tried everything I can think of. Any suggestions? I know I got it working first time around.

It's making it blinkin' hard to aim in a gun fight I can tell ya. TIA
