Look at every Manics release. Even the good ones. Now look for any "controversial" comments in the weeks before the release.

If he was releasing another Holy Bible, i'd indulge him. I heard Lifeblood when it was netbound not long ago, and it has become the first Manics album i will never own, as it is bland medocre nothingness.

In other news, he is releasing another Holy Bible. one of those posh 2CD&DVD reiussues, with talk of a one-off gig in London, which i'd love to go to.

Odds on Richard popping back for that one? I mean, if Lifeblood sales are down on expectations, who knows.....

Aw, diddums. Let's all do the elitism dance.

Quote from: "fanny splendid"People are under the mistaken assumption that, because they have managed to write a song, it must immediately be of some worth. New technology makes the finishing of a song more likely. It's there to do the work for you. In a sense, the average song can be made to sound more 'produced'.
And? Sorry, but there is still no point to your argument other than 'the cheaper it is for people to make finished-sounding songs, the more of an outrage this is'.

Almost Yearly

sigh yourself mayer. I refer the honourable gentleman to that fascinating meeting of minds with Castro. Ho ho dear oh dear. The man's lyrics alone are enough to send me cringeing into a little cringe hole of cringeyness.

Quote from: "my mate Robert"
MUSSOLINI: But Fidel, I thought you were into the Manic Street Preachers. You Were on TV with them.

CASTRO: To my shame.

MUSSOLINI: You even said they were louder than war.

CASTRO: Well I thought they were. Jesus Christ do you honestly think I can remember how loud war was? It has been over forty years. I thought that might be a polite way of getting them to turn the volume down or maybe off. But no, they seemed to revel in it. A pneumatic drill can be louder than war too and I would not listen to a pneumatic drill for enjoyment.

Oooh maybe I will try to drag my sorry arse to see them one more time. I heard they were going to "clean up" the production on the rerelease, I bloody hope not. I knew the band I once loved had gone for good when I saw them at the Carling homecoming gig in Cardiff, and they did that fucking terrible spazzy-tempoed acoustic string-laden version of Faster.

Know your enemy is far from a "DREADFUL" album, It's just a bit meh, and that amount of fillers on such a long album is all wrong. I still love intrevenous agnostic, found that soul, SWSS, a few more, but stuff like Freedom of speech won't feed my children is just dull overlong and pompous.

Oh and the most laugh out loud lyric they've done I reckon is in (shock) SYMM when James tries to crowbar in "But a- thankyou Jimmy Mc-gov-ern".

QuoteOh, and they sell ringtones on their website. Nice socialist gesture lads

Oh so fucking what.

Still Not George

Quote from: "TraceyQ"I've always been of the opinion that the Manics were a band for bedroom goths, scratching themselves with compasses and pouring indian ink into the wounds.  Friendless teenagers with self esteem issues and repressive parents. Grim.

Hmm.

You know I love you dearly, Q, but you don't half talk a lot of bollocks sometimes.

Admittedly, so does Wire. Although both Jet and the White Stripes are shite.

You want me to look this good and know what I'm talking about all at the same time? Chuh!

No, really, my beloved SNG, you know the type I mean and you know how much they annoy me. Mind you, they probably get their revenge every time I go out for what I think is an innocent cup of coffee.

Shoulders?-Stomach!

I really like the song Royal Correspondent thank you so very much.

Purple Tentacle

Quote from: "fanny splendid"People are under the mistaken assumption that, because they have managed to write a song, it must immediately be of some worth. .

This is an interesting point, and one not worthy of scorn, but I would argue that there are just as many worthless songwriters nowadays as before... all you need to write a song is a fucking acoustic guitar.  At a party.  Guuurgh.

The reason why history isn't littered with crap poems and songs and movies is that traditionally the shit gets lost and washed away, leaving Casablancas and Betjemans.  While perhaps the proliferation of reliable duplication and storage means that crap songs etc. are more resiliant to destruction, that doesn't mean that there were any less cave walls scrawled with self-hating cod-philosophy from acne-scarred Homo Erectuses.

It's just unfortunate that much of that 'crap' is more interesting than the Manics. Ah well...
