I was just listening to Stuart Maconie on R6M there and this strange and amazing tune came on which emanated the most peculiar yet familiar sound. I checked it out and it was the Baschet Brothers with the song Menage. Would i be correct that thsi was used on Picture Box, as it always instilled a sense of fear when i was a child especially that mostly i remember Praying Mantis's ripping Grasshoppers to pieces and being relieved when it finally came to an end.

here is the actual song i am referring to, which may help remind you.

Manege was indeed the Picture Box theme. Lasry-Baschet basically invented an entirely new musical process, Les Structures Sonores(literally "sonorous sculptures"). It's quite extraordinary how it was all produced using non-electronic sources, on things like this:

They were also considered by Verity Lambert to record the Dr Who theme, but I think were too expensive for the BBC at the time.

Good luck with this thread. I had one only two replies solely from the great Phil A, back in that cold January of 2014.

Norton Canes

I guess I am obliged to post in any thread that mentions Picture Box. They did end up using some L-B pices as incidental music in Doctor Who, in William Hartnell stories The Web Planet and Galaxy 4.

Well one the main question was answered about PB.

I got one of the albums and listed last night. It is a truly magnificent sound that conjours up all sorts of emotion. Really love it.
Recently I was at a wedding in Edinburgh and the ceremony was accompanied to a guy playing a Swiss made drum. Will get the details in a sec of name. But the sound was amazing.
Edit- it is called a Hang https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=80YMy3jaooc
