Sometimes google thinks I am 100 miles away

My google  searches on my android phone sometimes pick results based on location that isn't where I am, off by 100 or so miles.  Some retailer websites think I am in that same area and pick a store location not near me.  It is a very small ballache but reading a bunch of googled things hasn't helped fix it. Ocassionally chrome browser on dektop PC mislocates me in this same area too.

Not so much a "help me fix this" thread more of a "WTF Googs, you know everything about me how have you fucked this up?" thread.

My guess is that it doesn't have a GPS signal and is using the nearest wifi point's MAC address to locate you (and that it's wrong). Could be that somebody moved their router 100 miles away from where they used to live. You can turn off finding location via wifi, I think.
