I'm only familiar with it through Metallica's video for 'One'... the scenes from the film always depressed and disturbed the heck out of me. I was always keen to give it a watch, though, although I've never actually gotten round to it (even nowadays, when you just look things up on YouTube and shit). Written by Dalton Trumbo, I believe.
