Here is a deconstruction of what was a very savvy piece of clickbait and attention seeking using unsound misleading and garbage claims that they hadn't even bothered gathering themselves.

No-one comes out of this looking good (including the ever hideous Prince Domeboy).

"PR-reviewed scientific evidence":

Of course it's a hair transplant clinic, and of course they've made Wills their #1 rather than someone like Patrick Stewart or Derren Brown because Wills really doesn't suit baldness at all. From my own experience in PR I also don't doubt that the wording typed into the search box was deliberately chosen to manipulate the results.

A little experiment using their methodology:

Hair transplants aren't sexy, sorry.

To bump the results up a bit:

OK, bored now.

I love Ben Goldacre, but Christ his byline image makes him look a cunt. The entitled lovechild of Chris Addison and Marco Pierre White, and not in a good way.

Prince William has been getting jabbed with the vax and putting on a bit of a gun show:

Nah, doesn't make up for the rest of him does it?

During this Bashir business it's a bit odd how Diana has seemed to have been recast as a sort of bumbling fool who was too depressed to know what she was doing at the time so that the "evil" Bashir could take advantage of her.

Take advantage for the benefit of EXACTLY THE SAME FAWNING MUPPETS DECRYING THE BBC AND BASHIR NOW. Oh, the hypocritical lens!

Have Daily Star always had that 'Proud to love animals' tagline?

What the fuck is that about?

Blue Jam

That is just an entirely weird newspaper front page. Is it all real?

Good article from Mic Wright (@brokenbottleboy) here:

https://brokenbottleboy.substack.com/p/dear-newspaper-columnists-youre-not

As he says, The Times criticising Harry for getting therapy and being open about his mental health struggles is pretty nasty when a lot of people with mental health issues, especially men, find themselves stigmatised and discouraged from seeking the help they need.

Also he's entirely right about Ol' Gouty Hands, I clearly remember the time he described Gordonstoun as "a hellhole" and if he's on the record (in his authorised biography) as saying his upbringing was a cold and unhappy one how can you blame Bants for wanting something a bit more normal for his children? Why is it alright for Chas to criticise The Firm?

chveik

nt defending those tabloids, but there is some hypocrisy in the fact they're basically switching an aristocracy for another.

From my understanding Bashir got some A-Levels graphic lad to draw some bank statements on MS paint, and Dianna accepted them in exchange for the interview, believing they were vouchers for make up.

Are the Daily Star now catering for snail readers with what looks like a picture of two snails shagging on the front page? Snail Page Three next?

Putting this up here for archival reasons, to get some much needed balance re the whole Bashir affair, and also to show how Have I Got News For You is shit.

Ian Hislop apparently commented on the issue while last night's ep was recorded. Just checked and seen that none of this made the final cut (though it might make the extended version on Monday):

QuoteThere was some also confusion about when the new Panorama investigation into the Martin Bashir interview with Princess Diana was or wasn't being broadcast, having to talk in the past, present or future tenses, as the show was recorded the day before transmission, But Ian Hislop made one of the more nuanced analysis over Diana and the culpability of Bashir, reminding us that at the time, Diana had, without attribution, already written the book of her life with Andrew Morton, that was going to do a TV interview with someone anyway, and that she had writers prepare lines such as "there were three of us in this marriage, so it was a bit crowded" – she didn't write those herself. Bashir's actions, basically, pushed him to the top of the queue.

A fairly measured response, at least when you compare and contrast with Andrew Neil in the Daily Mail, saying that the cover-up COST DIANA HER LIFE.

QuoteBashir had played on her growing paranoia that somehow the British 'Establishment' was out to get her, at worst plotting her death and at best arranging enforced exile in America. And here was a reporter from the BBC's flagship Panorama programme telling her it was all true.

She concluded that to survive she had no alternative but to cut off as much contact with the royal apparatus as she could, including the security and protection it offered senior royals.

Really? Hadn't she already cut ties before the interview? Is this not just speculation on what may or may not've happened 25 years ago if a person hadn't given an interview? Or am I overthinking this?

Must be some very normal reason for this then, seeing as how they're not racists.

Never mind that! Four day weekend for Brenda's Platinum Jubilee!!

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-57329680
QuoteDetails of celebrations to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee next June have been revealed by Buckingham Palace.

There will be a four-day Bank Holiday weekend from Thursday, 2 June to Sunday, 5 June, with events including a pageant with 5,000 performers.

A live concert at Buckingham Palace, called the Platinum Party at the Palace, will feature "the world's biggest entertainment stars".

And the Queen will head to the Derby, at Epsom Downs, with her family.

The events will mark the Queen's 70-year reign, a milestone she will have reached on 6 February next year - becoming the first British Monarch to do so.

So, you know, on the one hand - bunch of racist cunts, but on the other - extra time off work once in 70 years.

Kinda makes it all worth it.

Will you still have the previous Monday off as well, or are they going to shift that around for one of the Jubilee days?

SpiderChrist

Quite amazing that both are news items today.

Surely this 4 day weekend will extend to the colonies..?

ooh an extra day or two off work. My fealty is renewed for another 70 years. Get over it, plebs.

Feh -- would rather see Monday and Tuesday off -- four day weekend is no fun if you still have that Sunday-go-back-to-school feeling. Hope to see more consideration for the 140th.
