As I understand it, he can go to the US to defend himself against charges of being a nonce (not a great look), or allow himself to be found guilty in absentia (probably a worse look). He could try and settle out of court with a non-disclosure agreement I suppose, but if she's determined to bring it to trial (as she may be) then that option is gone.

I wonder if he can pull some strings to have the case dismissed by a judge or some sort of US legal authority? That way he keeps his hands clean.

According to court documents, an answer is due from Prince Andrew to the affidavit by 17 September and "if you fail to respond, judgment by default will be entered against you for the relief demanded in the complaint".

The High Court in London will formally contact the Duke of York about allegations of sexual assault filed in a US court.
