i say the majority of above....but with dizzie rascal getting the mr dynamite vote as best urban...and outkast winning either best international album or band

darkness have just won best band anyway...no suprises there (spits out mention of their name)

23 Daves

And I can officially reveal that Dido's acceptance speech will be "Wow, this is really, like, amazin'... Thanks".  Probably followed by a long list of names, though sadly I don't have those on me at the moment.

Christ, those results make Britain look pretty shit. Seems Dido can win awards in her fucking sleep.

imitationleather

Well, I'm going back on my big drama-queen style exit just so I can post about how shit this is.

The Brits this year seems to have copied everything about those MTV awards ceremonies but has extracted anything that anyone could ever possibly find interesting about them. All it is is a horrible rundown of the artists (really badly remixed with a migraine-inducing beat), some completely unsuitable celebrity to announce the winner (Jaemilia for Best Rock Act?!) and then a really dull speech where that cunt from The D*rkness goes on about how great he is or something. Gawd, I hope he dies.

I seem to remember the Brits having some personality once, but not anymore.

Right, I'm going back out to walk the streets whilst in a huff about everything.

Dr David V

Feh, I hate the Brits. And I hate the Darkness. And Busted. In fact, I hate all of those, except for Basement Jaxx. I think I actually prefer the NME awards. Now that's saying something.

So far those look spot on, which is fucking depressing.  Lemar?

I'm sure there must have been something good released last year.

chand

I've never really got the point in awards ceremonies that basically tell us which artists are the most popular. Isn't that what the charts are for?

fbb bastard

oiiiiiiii......harry connick junior and woman.....LEAVE "THE LOVE CATS" ALONE FUCKERS!!!!!

mah to the awards basically....and goodbye avid fucking merrion (if it was him)........scarily unfunny

are muse playing?....thank the lord for that at least.......

imitationleather

Ah yes, judging by that Mel B thing Bo' Selecta! 3 should be a right old larf.

Dr Fox just said that this was 'the best Brits ever'. Someone give that man a cancer...

Tokyo Sexwhale

Well Muse are on now, so I'll be able to turn over after this and watch Faking It, and not bother with the rest of this now that I know the results.

Although, I'll probably miss some great Brit Awards moment involving Busted.

ahhh ha. well spotted about j5. but ross stone works methinks.

Assuming you mean Joss Stone, she's from Devon.

Anyway, as for the Brits, I long since gave up expecting anything exciting from such awards. It would be worrying if 'White Flag' really was the best piece of musician recorded by a British person this year. But it's no, so you just have to ignore this kind of crap.

It doesn't look like any thought went into it, I mean, The White Stripes, Basement Jaxx and Dido seem to have been picked on autopilot.

Rats

What the fuck was that on the piano murdering love cats? Jesus christ, I would have laughed, the ugly cunt bouncing around. I'm guessing it's someone off one of those pop idol things who MUST have failed miserably (simon cowell: "well, you're enthusiastic") bloody hell "BAAADADADADA DADADADADADADADA BADADADADADADADADADADA BADADAD ... love CATS!!!!"

Can someone please tell me what Dido's acceptance speech was?  I want to find out if I'm right.

the second award, she was rambling about white flag being really difficlut to write, emotionally, and how the award made it somehow all worthwhile

QuoteI'm sure there must have been something good released last year.

Only a few spring to mind, depressingly.

The year looks better though, which comes as a welcome relief.

The worst thing about those awards is that they were so predictable. And I mean SO predictable, we all could have splurted them out to look really cynical.

Yeah, she said it was emotionally difficult to sing, which presumably is why she always sounds slightly out of tune.

I remember the days of the brits when bands would shoot machine guns into the crowd then leave a dead sheep at the after show party. Great days.

At the risk of being laughed at I really think Simple Minds should get the lifetime achievment award next year. 25 years of great music such as new gold dream, street fighting years, neapolis and there recent stuff which is pretty damn good.

fbb bastard

probably not the minds next year....the way these things work it will probably be tears for fears.......and i find kind of funny, find it kind of sad.................

what price next year the new reality crashing in and the changing of best single to BEST DOWNLOAD SINGLE?

23 Daves

I've never known Dido to show any emotion whatsoever.  All she ever does when she sings is furrow her brow slightly and smile a bit.  She looks as if she might as well be back at her desk at Faber and Faber.

And whilst I don't want to delve into "Heat" territory too much, didn't her relationship fail because she chose to spend two years solid promoting her record rather than spending some time with her fiance?  Fair enough if that's the path she wants to choose, but for God's sake, why do we all have to hear her whinging about it?  "I left my fiance stranded for two years so I could receive a Brit award and some multi-platinum albums, and now I feel sorry for myself".  Jeez.  God knows how the poor bloke must feel every time he hears that shite on the radio.
