Anyone know what the tinkly piano music on the new Merc A Class advert is?

Ambient Sheep

No.  I haven't heard it.

But I'd like to reiterate my request for the tinkly piano music on the Velvet bog roll advert (the one with all the factory workers jumping into soft piles of bathroom tissue).

The song that I am trying to track down is not from an advert, it's from my head.

It probably came out in the late seventies or early eighties and part of my head still thinks it is by The Fire Engines. If I were a music journalist I would use words like spiky and angry. The only lyrics I remember are wrong, and go "Pop stars made by pop stars."

It could be Bogshed or, more likely, Bogshed's older brother, if he has one.

Let's go back a couple of weeks, to those ads for Extreme Celebrity Detox, or whatever it was called. They used what sounded like a really good country cover of Depeche Mode's Personal Jesus. Who's it by?

What the hell is this song?

I downloaded it off Soulseek as "New Order - Here To Stay (Demo)", which it clearly isn't. But er, I rather like it!

??????????

The most I got after extensive googling was this...

Important- which song?!
by designx21st@[EMAIL PROTECTED] Aug 12, 2003 at 12:29 AM

As I was downloading Here To Stay from Kazaa Lite one file ended up
being a totally different song. I can´t come across it´s title.
There´s a brilliant bass line, very hookyish of course. The chorus
lyrics begin as follows:

I don´t want to live in your world
Your little lies and your plastic pearls
You don´t believe me when I talk to you...

Any assistance received with gratitude,
Jesse

Of course, it's got no replies.

I must admit, if you ignore the vocals it's definitely New Order. However, with the vocals, it's definitely NOT New Order.
My turn now.
Anyone know  the toon playing in the 3 Network (mobile phones) ad.
The one with the 2 ancient oriental guys in cowboy outfits break dancing/Tai Chi in front of a giant jellyfish.

For a bonus point. Anyone got a clue as to "what on earth that is all about".
Great ad though.

What's that music in the new trainers advert where the guy is walking all over any surface after getting out of bed?  It is piano driven with a very Cat Power like vocal.

I think it's 'Many Tentacles Pimping On The Keys' by The Lo Fidelity Allstars.
I've not seen the ad for a while, but I think it's that tune, and the title would make sense.

Shoulders?-Stomach!

Albatross by Fleetwood Mac is being used on the Marks and Spencers ad, which if anyone's seen it is the most below-the-belt advert you've ever seen.

A load of high exposure, slow-mo close-ups of it's admittedely delicious food whilst one of the the greatest pieces of music plays in the background, and an almost climatical woman purrs into your ear drum.

It's the most simplest, base-level form of advertisement, and conjures up a feeling that in no way reminded me of shopping in Marks and Spencers, but being in a bubble bath eating a galaxy caramel getting my dick sucked by a greased up nymphette.

"This is not just pudding. This is warm belgian chocolate,  creamy in the middle, sex pudding"

You geniuses, you.

Haha - it's not just me then.  This advert is just gastronomic pornography and I cannot help but watch it every time it comes on and salivate for many reasons.

It is. I know because my friend's ex-girlfriend's friend's brother is in the band. True story! He's the son of the drummer from King Crimson, dontcha know.

Very interesting, definitely not Barney singing though. I'm not at all convinced by the date either, there's no way that's from 2002. It sounds far too 80s. Could it possibly be by one of Peter Hooks side projects?

It's actually Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeah's and the advert was directed by Spike Jonze, which probably explains why Karen O is singing on an advert.

My neighbours are playing a song on repeat and I want to know what it is. The chorus goes something like 'I want to be [word missing] her'. It could be 'with' or even 'like'. It begins quite quietly with the bass line but gets pretty loud towards the end and it sounds vaguey like the Smiths or something. The chords in the chorus are just A and then C# minor. I've googled my arse off but without luck. Maybe someone out there might be able to suggest something! And I don't think it's 'I want the one I can't have'.

Obviously, I couldn't go and ask them what it was! This is London remember.

Hello!

Does anyone remember those old adverts for P&O Stena Line? You know, they would have something like 'Human Being - Nine months', 'Oak Tree - however many years' and so on up until it came to 'Our Staff-' and then it revealed how long they had to train for and it was a bloody long time. Yes, well, I didn't say they were very good adverts. But! That's not the point. The thing is: does anyone know what the classical music that played in the background is called. A long shot, I know, but I've got a sneaking sensation that it is called 'Riptide' and is by somebody Palmer so perhaps someone could just clarify who wrote it or if that even is a piece of classical music? Cheers.

Not off an ad but not worth a thread either -

She was underwhelmed if that's a word,
I know it's not cos I looked it up,
It's one of those skills that I learned in my school

(more lyrics on request if it helps).

Can you name the band?  Please?

Sigh

Still no help.

It's not Monaco, or I'd know it, and it doesn't sound like Revenge.

Can't believe I'm going to ask a question about ringtones but here we all are, all the boys here...
The euro-electro thing from the Team Zissou helmets in Life Aquatic. A ringtone? If it isn't it bloody well should be.

A Passing Turk Slipper

What is that song on that radio one advert? It doesn't have any singing in the bit playing just five 'la's'. I'm sure I've heard it before.

The Duck Man

What's the siong over the top of Channel 4's Vanilla Sky trailer?

I was humming that all yesterday.

What's that tune that's around quite a lot? I can't really describe it, but you know the advert for "The Album" or whatever the CD is called, which starts off with Athlete and has The Killers in the middle? The popular bit of the song I'm on about is the last one to be played. I think it's been on a Radio 1 advert fairly recently.
