Had a bit of a love/hate relationship with the guy as he always seemed more than willing to pick up an easy cheque by turning up as a talking head and imparting bland, narrow-minded, status-quo massaging opinions on film history but on the other hand he could be a familiar, friendly face guiding you through a late night film binge. Somewhere up there right now he's boring somebody by telling them that same old anecdote about how he sat with Bette Davis at her AFI celebration.
