School Stories

Did you ever read school stories as a child? I used to enjoy the Jennings books, in particular the red hardbacked versions. They were a bit simplistic though, of course, and I doubt they resembled school life in any way at all. The best one was Jenning's Diary in which his friends got hold of his diary "Listened for cuckoo but did not hear it" "Not so hot toddy"

The huge majority of school stories I read were from decades ago and entirely focused on public schools. Not sure about school stories today - are there many? Children these days seem to be cunts so perhaps adults don't want to read about them.
