Blur practically made a carbon copy of Bowie's Boys Keep Swinging with M.O.R. It's the same blimmin' song.

Boys keep swinging on a new page.

The melody line to Fire's Father's Name Was Dad from 1968 is very similar to Black Sabbath's 1970 single Paranoid.

from the wiki page of 'M.O.R'

QuoteThe song's chord progression was borrowed from David Bowie's "Boys Keep Swinging" and "Fantastic Voyage". On the album Lodger Bowie and collaborator Brian Eno carried out a musical experiment in which multiple songs were written with the same chord progression, of which "Boys Keep Swinging" and "Fantastic Voyage" were the two that surfaced. M.O.R is both a continuation of, and tribute to that experiment, as its chorus also lifts the melody and call-and-response vocals from Boys Keep Swinging (Bowie and Eno both received credit for "M.O.R." after legal intervention).

sounds like bullshit to me guv.

The fact that Fantastic Voyage and Boys Keep Swinging sound like two different songs stands as reasonable evidence that they failed to follow in the same tradition as Bowie and Eno really.

Presumably it was either a conscious or subconscious lift and someone came up with that to save face.

The Riverdance theme I always felt was a ripoff of Gladys Knight and the Pips' Baby, Don't Change Your Mind

The main guitar bit in Blister in the Sun by Violent Femmes previously appeared in Cortina by the Lambrettas .

What famous song is Muscle Junkie by Violent Soho ripping off?

I worked it out in about 3 seconds, then went to the guitar to try out exactly the two basic tricks I'd imagined they used to disguise it which fit like a glove.

Slade spent most of the eighties trying to write Queen-esque anthems. By 1991 they decided to just rip them off instead. 1991's Radio Wall Of Sound absolutely rapes Hammer To Fall.

'Your Unpleasant Family' by Porcupine Tree always reminds me of the BGM from the Wii Fit plaza screen.

The intro of Steely Dan's 'Rikki Don't Lose That Number' (1974) is a straight rip from 'Song For My Father' by Horace Silver (1964). I'm sure they freely acknowledge this. I'd say definite homage rather than plagiarism and what follows the intro is such a banger that it doesn't matter anyway.

Yeah but in fairness that's just a basic Bossa nova vamp.
