Puce Moment

I saw this yesterday - the latest film from French maverick director Bertrand Bonello. It's a truly odd film and I am reluctant to say too much about it in case it spoils your enjoyment. I went into it knowing virtually nothing about the story and enjoyed it a great deal because of that. if you know the plot you might find yourself being disappointed.

All I will say is that it has a really tension building first and third act, and some brilliant use of editing, repetition and time shifting. I came away feeling like I had seen something truly original and I feel that it is very influenced by the later films of Alan Clarke (particularly the opening 30mins) and the later novels of J.G Ballard. At least I thought so. It is also quite explicitly referencing Dawn of the Dead, I think, although this is not a zombie film.

Small Man Big Horse

Thanks for the heads up about this, am obtaining it now and will watch it soon.
