Great, looking forward to listening to those KJ.

Cheers Crabling. Are you doing a 2018 album show on CaB Radio this year? You have a Merry Christmas, you hear me?

Norton Canes

And the beat goes on. Once again the December solstice beckons, which means it's time for an extravagance of tracks from the last six months of 2018, meticulously arranged so the end of one blends with the start of the next in so negligible a fashion that the term 'mix' gets up from its table, hurls the remains of its pint across the room and storms out of the bar in disgust. To use a topical analogy: if conventional mixes flow like the honeyed dialogue of Russell T. Davies or the piquant quippage of Steven Moffat, then these tracks enjoy as much congruity as the sundered fragments of a Chris Chibnall script.

As ever with the Solstice mixes I am seeking to build success upon success, and this time I'm attempting to beat Summersolstice '18's eight-figure amount of listeners. Although given that by 'eight-figure' I actually mean 'the figure eight', that shouldn't be too difficult. Oh well, I guess if you bill a mix as "laid-back, languorous summer grooves" and go on to make the first track a cacophonous industrial squall with a chorus featuring the lyrics "Fuck the angel/fuck the angel/fuck the angel raw" then you're practically inviting people to bail. Stick with this one though, yeah? I give you my firmest reassurance that none of the tracks exhort you to fuck any celestial being, raw or otherwise.

This time round your almost-80 minutes gets you eighteen darkly beguiling, synth-driven tracks including contributions from Gazelle Twin, ADULT., Tirzah, Objekt, Julia Holter, Grimes and Low, with added scuzz and wonky frequencies from the likes of Gabe Gurnsey and Marie Davidson. Again the avatar artwork you see has been plundered without permission from Agnes Cecile [www.deviantart.com/agnes-cecile] - I hope the link makes up for my audacity. And speaking of Audacity, you will all be relieved to know that despite the fact I have, as ever, compiled this mix using the web's premier open-source digital audio editor, the levels are still all over the place.

'Solstice'. It means 'sun stopping', or 'sun standing still'. Like the sun, Halten Sie bitte, und listen to Wintersolstice 2018.

Will The Night Light Ever return, do you think? I'm still often taken off to the lighthouse when I hear a certain type of hauntological loveliness...

Thomas and I have completely planned a second series, but I've unfortunately had neither the time nor inclination to actually work on it. Had a tough couple of years with my Mum being ill then passing away this year, plus I've been made redundant.

I'm hoping that one day I'll fancy another visit to Spindle. I miss ol' Rog and would like to hear more from him. I'd hate to do something half-arsed though, so until I feel inspired it won't be happening. I did listen to The Night Light Before Christmas on Christmas Eve however, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'll keep you posted. Thanks for asking.

If I get a few more listens from doing this, I'll continue to do it in the future. But, you know.. It's more work, so it needs to be worth my time. Anyway, it's a good show - so give it a listen.

Aw, cheers Crabbers. Glad you're enjoying the shows. Yes, the Olden Yolk album is very good indeed. I felt the closer was the highlight.

Next week is a Hauntology Special, so I'll do 2 versions; one with the talking and silly stuff, and another which will just be the music as the Hauntology shows have quite a decent following so I don't want to ruin their appeal.

Thanks again for listening!
