Anyone playing on mobile? It's surprisingly good (and free)

I discovered PUBG via Red Letter Media's review of it last September, and something about the bleak 80s / 90s Eastern European feel, the sound of the guns, the fantastic tension, it really appealed to me.
I only have ps4 so cant play it yet, but i started watching streamers play it on Twitch, and i am hooked!
Six months on and my sky box is severly underused, I just want to watch Dr Disrespect playing Pubg for hours on end instead of watching TV!
"The Dr" is fully in character for his streams, but also interesting to listen to talk about the industry, he used to work for Sledgehamner, and he designed most of the maps for Cod Advanced Warfare.
The Battle Royale genre is reinvigorating the games industry, exciting times ahead.

I don't even game but I watch Dr Disrespect, he's such a great character, he might not have mentioned it - but he was the two time, back to back, 1993 - 1994 Blockbuster Games World Champion!

The intro to his comeback is such good content, next level streaming.

You forgot to mention the bullet proof mullet, aka the black steel that drips down his back!
He is the absolute man, nearly as magnificent as he says he is!
Yes his comeback stream was great, got over 400,000 live viewers!
Im a big gamer, i have twitch on my tablet whilst gaming.
Its very addictive viewing, Pubg played aggressively is great to watch, and Doc's unique mix of 80s action hero cheese, clever industry insight, masses of energy and aggression makes it perfect viewing for me.
Using gaming as a platform for such a character, free form humour, something new and fresh, he deserves to be more famous, he is surely destined for big things.

Gutted i didnt discover him earlier!

Nice to meet another fan

WE both forgot the 37" vertical leap. Dr D reminds me of the popularity of wrestlers in the early 2000s, same idea but a different platform

I find Twitch fascinating, especially the IRL section - certainly the entertainment of the future. Not that he's on there anymore, but I'm a massive Ice Poseidon fan - the way he goes out and create content everyday is incredible.

The fuck happened to this?

Saw a clip of 1.0 on my feed, the graphics were all saturated and resembled the awful style of Fortnite.

Tried loading it up to see what it's like anyway, and it's pumped full of micro transactions now. "Event passes" and all this kind of limited time bullshit that Fortnite has, but hey Fortnite is a shitty free game. I paid for this piece of crap.

Sat in a FPP queue for 8 minutes without so much as a sniff of getting a game.

Nice one PlayerUnknown, you total dick.

Got a game instantly with TPP, which I don't like much. So I guess everyone is playing that or the new map, which costs nearly £8 to get into, fuck off. I'm fuming that I'm locked out of this new event by a paywall on a game I paid full price for.

I did get a couple of kills at least, it does still get the blood pumping. However you still have to wait 30 seconds for all the textures to load in at the start, ffs. I glitched right through the roof of a casino and am lucky I wasn't standing right in the middle of a slot machine when they all finally loaded in.

Apparently the frame rate on the OneX has actually got much worse than the standard Xbox. These guys really don't have a clue what they're doing. And reports of the CoD Battle Royale mode are incredibly positive, so it's likely to be the final nail in the coffin of this broken cash-grab shit.

Kelvin

Isn't it mad how quickly the fortunes of this game changed in one year? From the biggest story in gaming, and a contender for Game of the Year, to a punchline and an afterthought. In less than 12 months, Fortnight has become the only touchstone when discussing Battle Royales.

Barry Admin

Yeah, it's sad. They went full cash grab mode, and I think now that's fucked it in the long term, particularly on console. Battlefield and CoD will have 60fps BR modes with better graphics and support, and PUBG is still broke as shit. I feel sorry for the folks who bought an X just to play this with a better experience.

Still, you'll soon be able to buy special spin-off Xbox PUBG controllers, with grease-proof triggers so you don't drop them after having a chicken dinner. That's actually happening.

I can't believe the graphics still take so long loading in, that's been a problem from the start, and they shouldn't have been allowed to make this a "1.0" full version release, just so they can gouge more money out of people with Sanhok passes before everyone fucks it off for CoD.

Barry Admin

Have to admit though, I've been playing it all day. For all its faults, it's still a wildly compelling game with a level of tense pant-shitting atmosphere that doesn't exist in any other multiplayer game I can think of. Gun fights are quick and brutal, you really feel relieved when you win one. Dropping into high population areas is a really exciting scramble. And there's a few new (free) maps now, so although it's a shame first person seems dead, I'll definitely get back into this for a while at least, playing in third person mode.
