I think the joke works whichever way you put it, but then again any joke about somebody taking excessively long breaks will have me in stitches, it's a comedy gold mine as far as I'm concerned. Mind you, that might be because there's somebody at my work who's known for taking excessively long breaks, so I find it relatable.

This made me laugh a lot.

Why would a doe be on a conference call? I'd have serious questions about the firm that had hired them.

Cheaper than hiring a male deer though.

i accidently saw these and now you need to as well

Fuck sake. That comic strip might actually be the single worst thing to have come from Coronavirus.

If she is doing it through his clothes, is hand gel needed? Or is it in case his clothes have Coronavirus germs on them?

He'll need to put that top (?) in the washing machine once he gets home.

At least there's joke construction, even if you have to suffer through some nerd's idea of what it is to be a human

Ferris

If humanity is lucky, the 'vid will have a 100% mortality rate and no one will survive to remember that comic.

I always found Mel Smith and Griff Rhy Jones about as funny as haemorrhoids. Here's why:

and

And no, it wasn't even funny at the time.

I remember the advice on stain removal in Sir Leslie Colin Patterson's autobiography. Sir Les recommends the use of cold soapy water to remove semen from clothing as hot water sets the albumen.

Have you been crouched down for 30 years, alert and ready for the chance to really stick it to them in a thread about crap webcomics

Hmm. The thread is specifically about pathetic attempts at humour. There seems to be a general theme whereby you take umbrage with anyone making any criticism of anything. Maybe this thread isn't for you.

Also, why does his belly button even protrude to that extent?

I'm also fond of their very temporally specific piss take of the mid-80s adverts for WHSmith's DIY warehouse chain Do-It-All. "And half way through the advert we 'old up one of these!" Daniel Peacock biting the hand that fed him, here.

somehow i find bringing up criticism of smith and jones, even if it was warranted, after that cyanide and happiness strip, to be tantamount to a war crime

Well, thanks to those who jogged my (clearly selective) memory of S&J's better moments. I had genuinely forgotten about the excellent ad parodies, which I did enjoy at the time.

Even better, I was crouched down in a weird context for 30 years, planning a war crime whilst delaying my iconoclasm.

Stumbled across this on Twitter and it served as a pleasing reminder that it's not just us bald old cunts who get frustrated about this shit:

I only have to read your post to hear "Gandhi, Gandhi, if wasn't me old mate Gandhi". Haven't seen it for years and years.

I also love them for the line "where did you read that, the Rochester, Chatham and Gillingham News?" in their talking heads bit.

Ohhh man! In the mid-90s I sat beside a guy in chemistry class who always sang the ghandi song from Smith & Jones. I had it stuck in my head for OVER 15 YEARS until I finally saw it for the first time thanks to YouTube.

Still a bit baffled that that couple of minutes of S&J doing an unscripted bit of nonsense on stage at Live Aid is somehow supposed to be the thing that causes the scales to fall from all our eyes so we finally all have say, HANG ON THEY WERE ALWAYS CRAP!

On the scale of comedians at charity concerts, it hasn't a fraction of the embarrassment of, say, Gervais at the Diana thing

There's more than enough evidence to the contrary across their career as a duo, even if they were definitely coasting a bit in the last couple of years of their sketch show.

Wasn't really sure what other thread to post this in, and it really isn't worth starting a fresh thread just for this video, but this got brought to my attention earlier.

Apparently, in December 1994, someone thought it would be a good idea to release a danced-up version of the theme from 'One Foot In The Grave'.  (The CD single contains no less than 5 additional dance remixes).

Anyway, a music video was made, featuring Eric Idle and Richard Wilson (true to form, Idle is filmed sitting by a swimming pool in Los Angeles).
Idle mimes along and does some appalling half-arsed physical comedy, and it's the most pathetic, unfunny, tossed-off-in-about-an-hour thing I've seen in some time.

BEHOLD.
