Loads of guitar threads here which is good but as a new addition to the bass player community I feel we need to show some love.

Jah freakin' Wobble. Massive influence on me as far as bass is concerned. I don't need to link anything cos we all know what he sounds like.

Rob Been. Lead instrument in BRMC. Incredible musician.

And please feel free to discuss the merits of playing bass with a pick (Deb Googe come on down) cos it sounds ace.

Noddy Tomkey

The king of bass, Charles Mingus

I'd love to be on bass in this band, probably chose the wrong track to share though

I play bass, and love to find an odd corner to tuck in to and groove on.

Petey Pate

James Jamerson.  Listen to the isolated bass track for Marvin Gaye's What's Going On? apparently recorded while Jamerson was lying flat on his back, too drunk to stand.

Charlie Haden is the boss for me, especially in the company of Keith Jarrett & Paul Motian (a trio I can't get enough of, but probably have everything they recorded, bootlegs and all).

His solo in the Overture to Escalator Over The Hill is like the sun rising.

Here he plays his Song For Che with his band The Liberation Music Orchestra:

Not forgetting his initial groundbreaking work with Ornette Coleman.

I love me some Claypool. The video for this song is so cool too. This is not a guitar thread but LaLonde is pretty special.

hmmm...I've always found him boring. Funkadelic and Parliament too...kind of watered down funk.

Dr Syntax Head

There's a Bootsy star Bass at Mansons on the wall right now. I want it.  More than I want the Les Pauls
