In the Leeds Q&A he mentioned that they had some armed police outside their office for a bit after that.

Fancy a preprandial?

After looking that word up in an dictionary.. sure.

Turned out that the person doing the Q&A with Cumming was a friend of mine who notably read out a bit of one of Morris's voice-overs like a performance poem. Which was good.

Plus Tom Watson MP was there.

Spoon of Ploff

Thanks to pancreas i got to speak to a person who spoke to a person who has actually spoken with Chris Morris.

shouldn't we be putting our collective failing memories together to make a recollet-tee package of all the outtakes? I've already forgotten most of them. Panc's pal's poem was a highlight of the Q&A

"Senator Agsby unsheathes a length of skin-clad tube
His anatomy breaks cloth, and he staggers around
until finally he releases several arcs of liquid silk
from the fleshy nozzle of his fork."

The elephant pissing all over the floor.

The American pastor with a love for guns saying that he hadn't killed anyone in two years, unless you count the N-WORD and the 'muslett'.

The Horror-caust boardgame.

Lady parliament.

I was actually glad they'd cut a lot of the more tasteless stuff. If some of that had survived into the final edit, I don't think it would have allowed us to look back on it with so much fondness. So I do wonder what Michael Grade had made them cut. If it was stuff like that ...

Yeah, there were a few bits that crossed the line from edgy to problematic. I think they realised that too.

I asked a question about this actually. Cumming thought Morris had deliberately created things they would never show so as to distract attention from everything else.

Spoon of Ploff

- there was an extra piece with Master of Hounds Patrick Da Fronk explaining what happens when you let the fox population get too large. They all gather underground in a circle, facing outwards, and think about you.

- Morris asking David Sullivan if the image of 100 naked David Sullivans in a lift licking each others scrotums was pornographic.

"No"
"With a five year old watching?"
"Yes"

and that's before he moved onto the props.

- extended scenes of Mark Heap insulting a cow and chasing a chicken.

I made a list for myself the day after, just because I will probably never get to see the film again and I wanted to remember it. Reading the 4 posts above made me remember stuff I had forgotten. There are no joke spoilers in this list, it is a load of bollocks if you haven't seen the film. But should jog your memory if you have.

The weeeeerd
Buying drugs (extended)
Girl, parents, dog / Rape victim uncle
This is a conversation (extended)
"Is this offensive?" pipe

I suppose I have absolutely no chance, but will this tour outside of the UK (for example in Toronto)?

Solid Jim

Has anyone asked about the Nigel Evans story as sent in to SOTCAA? I'd always assumed it was apocryphal, but it's repeated in Disgusting Bliss with additional details. Then again, Michael Cumming has said in Q&As that the only celebrity to suspect something amiss was Toyal Wilcox.

Thomas

Saw this at the weekend. Fantastic, I recommend it to all on CaB. The thing has obviously been pieced together and edited very lovingly by Michael Cumming - and, as this showing was in Dublin, Arthur Matthews appeared as a surprise guest for the Q&A.

Wonderful seeing so many unused bits and breakings-of-character and corpsings-of-Morris. One favourite unused line was from his foxhunter character in 'Animals', something along the lines of -

QuoteIf you don't cull foxes, they gather and go underground in large burrows, a hundred of them, where they stand in a circle, facing outwards, and... think about you.

I really got a sense of just how improvised some of the brilliant material in the final show must have been. I was also pretty astonished to actually hear the legendary Reggie Kray phonecall.

I enjoyed Morris (whilst filming the Blouse bit) mocking Paul Daniels - 'help us get that trunk out'.

hermitical

I've got 2 tickets for the 6:30pm showing in Bristol tomorrow, 30th - any interest?

I don't have the energy to travel up and back....

Posted in the Dublin thread, but what the hey, I'll stick it in here too:

So as I said a mate secured tix for this and I actually got to see it in the end (huzzah!), so here goes my little write-up! Apologies for stuff that has already been mentioned...

Sadly, unlike Thomas we didn't get Arthur Matthews tonight, but in any case The Sugar Club is a nice little venue... in his intro, Cummings referred to how it had mostly been screening in cinemas, and this was the most usual place it had screened until they went round the rest of the country (Belfast, Galway I think... Donegal?). He also mentioned his surprize at how well the showings were going everywhere, apparently they replaced screenings of Blade Runner 2049 and Murder on the Orient Express at a couple of cinemas!

Anyway, really enjoyed it, some very interesting/funny unseen stuff, watching Morris corpse is an absolute treat... the fox in his mouth, Mark Heap making him grin with "You're from Gloucester!" or something, a few smiles as the psycho battery guy, flicking the little clip thing in the science episode... also, as mentioned, Purves Grundy's references to Daniels "Help us get that trunk out!" is wonderful. Also, the girl in the Sex episode has one of the funniest break-ups, in response to Morris'"When you fall over in the snow, do you make a couple of bumps?" She goes, "I knew it was coming!"

The David Sullivan stuff got some of the biggest laughs... apparently MP Graham Bright was the only participant who managed to get his segment removed, we get to hear him mention "boom raves" here! Am I imagining things, or was the Lady Parliament bit including in the DVD deleted scenes? Four Lions' Nigel Lindsay suing for possible STDs after getting spunked in the eye was also quite funny. The mandrill has been mentioned, apparently it was the second-most expensive hire after the zebra.

There's definitely a share of stuff that wasn't up to scratch for the finished show, and some unpleasantness which they probably never intended to broadcast, but it's good stuff overall.

As for the Q&A, someone asked if any of the extras took offence to the material, Cummings recalled something that I think may be mentioned in Disgusting Bliss, apparently on the very first day of filming a cameraman walked out in disgust and threatened to leak info about the show to warn celebrities off. And as somebody else pointed out, Toyah was the only celebrity who immediately copped it was bollocks after been asked to read out the thing about Carla having her trunk stuck up her guts... she said she'd talk a bit about animal rights and that if they wanted, but she wouldn't read that out! He also described Toyah and husband Robert Fripp's appearance on All Star Mr & Mrs as being the end of television of something, however!

He was asked how he felt about shows that had been influenced by Brass Eye... he said he wasn't keen on Ali G at first, but thought Borat was great. Also mentioned being impressed by some recent show on Adult Swim that I can't remember the name of... one of you lot will probably cop it!

It's been mentioned, but he also described how the BBC were fine with about the first 90 seconds of footage, then just flatly refused everything after that.

Oh yeah, he also made a couple of dodgy jokes about 'Your Edmonds' managing to survive Yewtree!

Quote from: Captain Crunch on September 30, 2017, 12:44:17 AMBristol was very good, the film went down well and the questions were ok.  Lots of sidetracks into Bullseye, not sure if that was common at the other sessions?

Sadly no great anecdote, he just said they were both big fans.

Haha, yeah, in the intro he mentioned The Strange World of Guerney Slade (never seen it, but it has of course been mentioned on here in the past!) as a fave cult show, and also Bullseye... that he always ends up watching it on Challenge TV around 10PM in a hotel room or something!

Straight Faced Customer

The Adult Swim show I heard him big up at another screening was The Eric Andre Show. Just an FYI!

Yes indeed mate, QuadraSpazzed confirmed that in the Dublin thread for me... also, couple of other bits I posted there:

QuoteCouple of other things... Alexander Armstrong as a priest... Doon Mackichan and Hugh Dennis breaking character...

Oh yeah, and Cummings mentioned a few of the Dublin greats in his intro, paraphrasing here but basically, "James Joyce, Samuel Beckett, Bono Vox..."

After originally thinking I was going to be missing the Newcastle showing due to being in Cunt London I've spent a fortune on new train tickets to hopefully make it back as I couldn't work out any way to see this thing without doing something ridiculous like flying to Dublin. Train arrives in Newcastle at 4.30, film starts at The Stand at the stupidly early time of 5pm. Going to be a brisk jog to the venue. It shall be tight.

it's very good. i have a dvd but there's some of it up on that there you tube. it was intended as prime time family entertainment but was too weird and got bumped to 10pm (or something) after just two episodes

here's a trailer for a later episode featuring Anthony Newley talking to a poster of himself, lamenting at what a failure the show was

Gurney Slade is terrific. I saw it either earlier this year or last year, and it blew me away. I then watched The Armando Iannucci Shows earlier this year and I am certain Gurney Slade was a major influence on that. I'd love to know if that was the case.

At the screening I just went to it was chaired by CaB favourite Andy Dawson and the director mentioned the guy who runs "the top comedy forum on the internet, Fuckd and Bombd (sic)" at the Belfast screening who asked questions so tricky he didn't actually have the answers to them. I put my hand in the air and went "Woo!" a bit and I think that flagged me to the people around me as a member of this place. The respect and awe was radiating off them.

Will be back in the UK in February - I'll happily travel anywhere on the Septic Isle to watch this. Where can I get a full set of listings?

I tried opening the thread post but the whole thing started to unravel so I thought asking an innocent question on a Chris Morris board was a better bet. Shows how wrong you can be, eh?

Dunno what you're getting upset over. The very first post had this link - http://www.michaelcumming.co.uk/latest_news.html - which will give you the info.

Edit: February doesn't seem to be listed (as of yet).

"You massive fucking piss tank"
"Remove the rubber tube"

Great stuff. A fair amount of it wasn't new to me though, having had the Torque TV pilot for years. Although, just watching Morris list animals was a joy. So much for fans of Morris corpsing too.
