I thought this had been solved, wasnt it distortion/interference caused by a soup.of different signals overlapping? And some of those signals may have been covert, hence the 'mystery spin.

I havent heard that but it reminds me of the case back in the 70s or early 80s where a little old ladys cottage somewhere in the south of England ( im betting wiltshire lol ) started having occasional but serious trouble with its electrics ... light bulbs blowing, appliances smoking, the works.

The electricity board came out and checked the obvious things .... earths properly bonded, no floating neutrals, state of the wiring etc etc but no all was absolutely fine

then some other specialists got involved and did various tests .... cant remember all the details now but one thing that stuck in my head was they installed a lightning conductor down the side of the house which was later discovered as a puddle of copper at the bottom of the wall

it was eventually discovered that her house was in the path of a high-power microwave beam ( a bell is ringing that it was actually at the intersection of two beams ? ) and since the source turned out to be military the advice given to her was 'move'.

ive googled but cant find any more info on this, all i keep getting persistently as the second hit is a completely fucking irrelevant article from Which? about how LED light bulbs arent lasting as long as they should do .... Google really isnt what it used to be

biggytitbo

You remember correctly, that was a segment on something like Michael Aspel's Strange But True, I remember seeing it fairly recently. They got a military weaponry expert in and he concluded that the phenomena was been caused by secret military tests on an direct energy or microwave weapon.

Isnt Anything

Thanks !

I never watched the Aspel show though so dunno where i got it from .... but nice to have the existence of the story confirmed.

biggytitbo

Annoyingly I cant find exactly what it was from now, if not Strange But True it was circa 90s era British TV show about mysterious events etc, maybe the Carol Vorderman one or the later series of Arthur C Clarke.

https://thepsychologist.bps.org.uk/neuropsychological-impairments-everybody-has actually looks as the scored assessment data that's been published.

Quote
The reports of these symptoms are largely anecdotal, but apparently stronger objective data have now emerged, in a high-profile paper with a supporting editorial, in the Journal of the American Medical Association. The paper reports on 21 people, all US diplomats previously working in Havana, concluding that they exhibit neurological manifestations of unknown origin, which resemble mild cerebral concussion, yet with no evidence of brain injury, and possibly related to obscure acoustic stimuli. The evidence for this extraordinary claim rests in large part on the extensive neuropsychological testing of six of these 21 people, with significant cognitive impairments reported in all cases.

This article has attracted a lot of attention, but remarkably little scrutiny. A closer reading of the paper shows that the neuropsychological evidence presented in the Supplementary Material (eTable 2) is almost unbelievably flimsy. The six people assessed with the neuropsychological battery were tested with 37 tests split across 10 cognitive domains. In each domain, the person was considered impaired if their score fell below the 40th (fortieth) percentile in at least one of the tests. This threshold for impairment is inexplicably high.

By definition, 40% of people assessed on any test should score at or below the 40th percentile. Considering that each participant was given 37 tests, without any statistical correction for the number of tests administered, it seems unlikely that anyone would escape with a clean bill of cognitive health (for further analysis, see Della Sala & Cubelli, in press).

In that episode of House when he was on the plane, it turned out that no-one was sick and instead it was just mass hysteria.

The mind is a powerful tool for hate groups.

Possible, and i do only mean possible, explanation

https://hardware.slashdot.org/story/18/05/30/0349202/sonic-and-ultrasonic-attacks-damage-hard-drives-and-crash-oses

not referenced in the story or article itself but it immediately struck me that maybe this is what the embassy attackers were actually trying to do - disrupt computer equipment rather than human beings

reading down through the comments it turned out that several other people all spontaneously had the same thought

Alberon

The incident in the embassy in China is still going on.

A number of individuals have been sent back to the US for tests. One, Mark Lenzi, describes hearing sounds like marbles hitting the floor followed by excruciating headaches and sleeplessness.

interesting article linked from that one concluding that the Cuban one was just ball lightning bouncing off a strut

might be true i suppose

The clue is the one common feature in all of these disparate incidents is US spies and military, hence its obviously something they're doing.

Alberon

Possibly, but why would they be drawing attention to it if they were behind it?

It's frustrating as again it will probably be many years until the real truth comes out.

Sorry, can anyone else see this? Am I hallucinating?

Imagine if there was a totally rational explanation for it but no-one wanted that to get in the way of a good group wank.

Alberon

So why are the Americans still going on about it? Surely they are as aware of that as we are?

I'm guessing because whatever they're doing that's causing it is secret so they've put out this cover story that there's some kind of spooky mystery going on. Classic Scooby Doo/UFO tactic.

BUMP

It, whatever 'it' is, is still going on in Cuba.

The Canadians, who have been affected along with the Americans, has reported a 'traumatic brain injury' in a 13th diplomat.

Apparently it's been named 'Havana Syndrome'. It's been 18 months since the last incident involving a Canadian. They had moved family members out of Cuba and moved new arrivals to a single compound away from any US building to reduce the chance that they were targeted in the belief they were Americans.

Canadian authorities have made a decision that any staff posted to Cuba can return if they wish.

Yeah crickets, sure.

If you believe that you'll believe anything.

Could be Russian crickets though, under orders from Putin.

Check out this dunce

biggytitbo

Cuba already said it was crickets back in 2017 but it wasn't reported because the explanation wasn't Russian enough.

Have you seen these Russian cricketers?  Wanted for urgent questioning by the FBI.  Exercise extreme caution.  Do not approach directly.  Wear noise cancelling fluffy earmuffs.

Can't wait for these crickets to be weaponised.

This is a viral marketing campaign for the new sonic film isn't it? Between this and Jim Carey getting ejected from the film actors section at the golden globules, it's looking like they've got something pretty special on the way
