My problem with the ending is not the ending ending but the final fight. Which I thought was a complete mess with no pay off or unique elements to it. Just a couple bullet sponges.

I thought it was okay, but didn't really feel like a proper boss fight.

Nah mate, sinking an axe into *that* was a fucking delight. I wonder if there's anything worthwhile about playing it through again with the other person alive at the beginning?

EDIT: Sorry, you're talking about the thing before that. Yeah, I was getting to the point where I thought "am I hitting these with the wrong thing?" before I saw bits fall off one of them and surmised I was actually doing some damage.
