Prostate cancer affects 1 in 9 men. Meaning statistically someone in this thread will get it. Who's your money on?

Weird, I heard it was 1 in 4 men over a "normal" lifespan and then, as Blue Jam, every man will eventually be punished with it if we bother to carry on living.

MoonDust

I had a dream my right bollock exploded. Was so vivid as soon as it popped I woke up with a half-arsed "ah!"

Prophetic, maybe?

You know that Alvin Stardust bloke, yeah?

The bloke that sang that My Coo-Ca-Choo song, right?

. . . WRONG!

The voice you actually hear on the record is by Pete Shelley

. . . No, not that one, this one -

A man sang on a record. What the fuck's amazing about that?

Uncle TechTip

Excessive wanking is proven to ward off prostrate cancer so I actually think all the fellows here are in great shape.

I discovered recently that the Rezillos song "Somebody's Gonna Get Their Head Kicked in Tonite" is actually a Fleetwood Mac cover.

It was originally released under the name of Earl Vince and the Valiants but became a Fleetwood Mac B side later.

A prostate cancer researcher once told me that, in theory, any man will eventually get prostate cancer if nothing else kills him first. If a man just kept going past 100, 120, 150 etc it would get him eventually.

Mind you, that's probably true of people and cancers in general- if we could live to 200, with billions of cell replication events, statistically one of those cells is bound to bollocks it up eventually.

Until my terminally ill mate (renal medullary carcinoma) told me I didn't know when cancer spread it's the same where it ends up. So if you get lung cancer and it ends up in your liver you have lung cancer in your liver. I guess that's how they know where it originated.

Anyhow, I came here to post I was listening to Colleen Murphy's latest worldwide fm show and she pointed out the Seasick Steve backstory is mostly fiction; he'd done session work on loads of stuff.

Quote from: biggytitbo on December 15, 2017, 09:10:59 AM- We all love christmas shopping at the budget supermarket ALDI, but did you know its actually 2 separate companies - ALDI north and ALDI south. ALDI south, with the blue and orange logo operates in the UK, Ireland, Australia, China and Switzerland. ALDI north with the white and blue logo operates in France, Denmark, Belgium and Spain. Germany and the USA have both ALDI north and ALDI south stores.

Actually only Aldi South trades in the US as ALDI. Aldi North trades as Trader Joe's.

The Wizzard thing reminds me of 'Tainted Love', which mostly gets played today as an almost-identical re-recording made in about 1991. The video makes it obvious as it's clearly not early-80s vintage at all: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZVpR3Pk-r8

See also Black Box's 'Ride On Time' which exists today as both its original Loleatta Holloway version and a later re-recording by M People's Heather Small, after Holloway (rightly) complained that they'd sampled her without permission.

For some reason, over the past thirty-five years, I thought Kronenbourg lager was German, not French. What a chump.

Neither Sarah Cracknell or Tim Burgess were born on Christmas day, despite the St Etienne single claiming so. However Annie Lennox and Shane MacGowan were but they never did a version of it.

I've posted this before, but it's still a corker, Madonna's Ray of Light is a cover. I clearly haven't just found this out either.

Though the ghastly pap you will find over here is British.

I've heard that before. Also her other single from around the time Beautiful Stranger seems to owe more than a passing resemblance to Love's She Comes In Colours too.

I think most people Bjork's version of "It's Oh So Quiet" is a cover but I was surprised to find out just what a carbon copy it was.

And I only recently found out that Dubstar's musically wonderful, lyrically terrible "Not So Manic Now" is a cover, too.

I got an answer but it's four years tardy. When I found out Ms Dynamite was Akala's sister I almost shum. Shit cum.

Already mentioned in another thread, but the recording it's a carbon copy of is itself a cover (not such a carbon copy one, though).

I didn't believe this at first, comparing voices of them both (I love Alvin Stardust), it could be either. Wiki even says
QuoteThe song was written, sung, and recorded by Peter Shelley,[2] using the glam rock name Alvin Stardust. Although he had already appeared as the original Alvin Stardust on the Lift Off television programme,

Here's the familiar Alvin on Lift Off (and you can see Peter Shelley in the band I think)

https://youtu.be/hTmioV5DqPs

It doesn't say the date. I want to see Peter Shelley, singing My Coo-Coo Ca Choo on Lift Off before I fully believe it. Seems true though, at least two sources, Lord Levy's book and Shelley saying he done it. I find it most disturbing and am going to pretend I dreamt learning this.

Jona Lewie's real name is John Lewis. But they've never used one of his songs for their Christmas advert.

of course if you kept living and didn't die of anything else you would die of cancer. saying that is like saying this - and bear with me here as i'm not sure where i'm going with this one but let's have some fun shall we guys - it's like saying this scenario: a machine gun firing thousands of bullets, right, and it's like saying this 'if you manage to avoid all the other bullets you always get hit by the millionth bullet'. is it clear what I'm getting at here. i believe I've made myself clear. if the scenario is you keep living and don't die of anything else, of course you're going to end up dying of cancer. do you understand. i can't think of any other ways in which to put this. read it again. read the first letter of each word it's a secret code. i've got a hangover. what's everyone doing today, like for breakfast, what are you doing for breakfast? i'd like some hash browns and beans like a cooked breakfast you know. anyway i'd better scoot.

- It's God rest you merry, gentlemen, not God rest you merry gentlemen

How on earth do you rest someone merry?  Is it like fucking them silly?

I thought it was "ye" anyway, not "you".
