In the same vein as Mr Vampire there's "A Chinese Ghost Story" and "Forbidden City Cop" (On Daily Motion I see). Forbidden City Cop throws a few western cultural references into it's humour.

I used to see a lot of these films at the Broadway cinema in Nottingham... they used to do Hong Kong triple bills on the odd Sunday back in the day.

I can only echo all the praise for Mr Vampire, easily up there with Evil Dead 2 in terms of all-time great horror comedies. Annoyingly I fell asleep before the ending though.

Just saw Evil Dead 2 for the first time last week, really enjoyed it.

A Chinese Ghost Story was one of my Dads favourite films.

Side note I wonder if the Armos Knights in Zelda: Link To The Past are related to the hopping Vampire lore. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Axbv7dG_LME

the

What a cracking poster - a Nazi Elvis after botched dental surgery and Oprah Winfrey with her baps out! Picture of the year indeed

Danger Man

Warning This movie contains breasts

ToneLa

They're real and they're spectacular.

QuoteIt was among the first American films to feature nudity during the Production Code, and was the first film featuring bare breasts to receive Production Code approval.

Reminder this is on tonight from 6pm with a preshow from 3pm.

I found it quite intresting that the film refused to give Sol a happy ending. He didnt get revenge on the Gangsters, he didnt stop the prostitution, and he didn't even get to die. He managed to break down his emotinal barrier to only find that under neath there was more pain that he couldn't hope to come to terms with. I wonder how many surivovrs at the time felt like he did.

I did resonate with the fact that even when he was going through his lowest moments, other peoples problems wouldn't stop coming through the door. Its an amazing way to show being alone in your own problems within a crowd of other people.
