Claude the Racecar Driving Rockstar Super Sleuth

Legacy, by Mansun. I went through a few months of not listening to them, after Paul Draper said something to his support act that was apparently unpleasant enough that they quit the tour after one show. Eventually though, I couldn't maintain this would be boycott. I just love Mansun too damn much, so I've been listening to them heavily over the last month or so.

Before that, Disclosure by I Break Horses. Swooning, sexy, Swedish synthpop.

Golden E. Pump

'Ignition [Remix]'.

And after the show it's the afterparty.

And after the party its the hotel lobby.

Large Noise

This band have only been going a few months and only seem to have 2 songs, but I'm really into this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=flxtvhVg4Cs&list=RDMMflxtvhVg4Cs

I listened to "Born in a Burial Gown" by Cradle of Filth three times on the train home yesterday - album version twice, then a remix - and then once again on the car stereo and lastly once on my turntable once I got indoors.

I was in the process of discovering for the first time how that song works mechanically. It hit me on the first listen, the second was to make mental notes, the third was to test my notes and the last two were just to appreciate it on louder speakers in different settings.

Interestingly, doing so has completely reframed my appreciation for how that guitarist wrote songs and how much interesting composition stuff is going on there, and I'm hearing some of the other tracks as if for the first time.

Dr Syntax Head

I find this hugely affecting, brings a tear. Because of the subject matter. And it's beautifully simple.

Sin Agog

Teinen Pushiganga by Jun Togawa.  I could imagine samurai listening to this to wind down after wiping out a whole village. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CV-qCcjxtlg

Mark Kozelek - Tiny Cities Made Of Ashes

Just this live version. Love the reverb on his voice from the venue. Didn't know the Modest Mouse original, but having listened to it I'm even more interested in this version.

Swimming pool, swimming pool
Swimming pool, swimming pool
Indigo, deep blue, deep blue
Oh, baby I know where you've been
I know where you been, in the deep end

pretty much a folk ringo star sgt pepper tune - entire album is full of it. makes klaatu jelly

Sin Agog

Saw them perform that whole album live a few years back.  Got free tickets from some mailing list for local gigs that have undersold.  Great experience, though they'd got some young beardy buskery bloke doing some of Mike Waterson's parts.

I somehow only just realised that there are two famous versions which I am familiar with of Ain't No Mountain High Enough which are quite different. Been listening to both and another version in wonder at how on earth I didn't realise before.

borrance

Sunderland girl by Bob mortimer and monty python's galaxy song.
