just discovered Danny Kirwan's Fleetwood Mac's Dust

I'm wallowing in the sadness and it's exquisite

Beautiful, isn't it.  Some lovely gems, both with FM and solo, he left us to remember him by.  Still processing his death, even though it wasn't that unexpected (odd to think that Danny was younger than both Buckingham and Nicks, nevertheless).

buttgammon

High Times by Marcus Marr - probably more like ten times in a row actually!

Yeah, I should explore the post-Green pre -Welch era a lot more if this is anything to go by

Welch was already on-board for Bare Trees (and the earlier and even stronger Future Games album).  The post-Green pre-Welch album would be Kiln House, which hasn't got quite as much about it, although there are some smashing things on there (rockers like Station Man and Jewel-Eyed Judy, as well as the wistful Kirwan instrumental Earl Grey - Christine McVie provides some lovely support piano on this).

Cheers, I'm on my way!

non capisco

This slice of 90s indiepop magic that I've probably linked to many a time and oft on here before. 'Flashlight' by Fuzzy

That "I had to feel my way around" hook kills me. I fucking adore this song. "Listen to some new music, non capisco", the kids are saying. "There's all new bands and that now." SHUT UP AND LET ME WALLOW, I'M NEARLY 40.

I never really listened to them but this is a banger:

Beastie Boys - An Open Letter to NYC

Hobo With A Shit Pun

Last Night, My Bedroom, Sparks, Edith Piaf Said It Better Than Me.

This tune is how I learned the 5 boroughs of NYC. If asked, I give them in this order (minus the reference to battery park).

This brilliant cover of Andy Warhol that someone posted here a few weeks ago.

mojo filters

Sun Kil Moon + Magik*Magik Orchestra (live in Chicago 2017) - "Somehow The Wonder Of Life Prevails" (a magnificently epic, organic and dynamic interpretation of a track originally from a Mark Kozelek collaboration with Jimmy Lavelle/The Album Leaf circa 2012)

Belle & Sebastian  (1st of recent 3 EP releases) - "We Were Beautiful" (heard it live on a BBC Scotland Christmas session, wanted to check the recorded version was as utterly brilliant as I expected!)

Mary Beth Mariaz (cover) - "Daydream Believer" (after finding out about the death of a close family member, plus never forget hearing that song first 20+ years ago on Dawson's Creek, watching T4 on a Sunday morning like I did with the gf who just left me)

Spiritualized - "Perfect Miracle" + "I'm Your Man" (when released on Spotify after much anticipation in advance of the new album, trying to work out what if any production magic had changed them since I first heard them in a raw live form, during the 2nd leg of their previous album's tour, at various gigs in 2012 and 2013)

Ferris

Killer Crane by TV on the Radio. Lovely bit of music.

bgmnts

Going Underground - The Jam.
Go West - Pet Shop Boys.

Clownbaby

Lordofthefiles

Sparky' Dream - Teenage Fanclub

Lovely stuff

Just learned from my DAD that this is a rework of the rhythm parts of Bus Stop by the Fatback Band, which is obvs an absolute classic.

Shame on me.
