Too Late for U and M1 by DJ Seinfeld has been using up my weekend's supply of seretonin every Friday night for a few weeks now

Sebastian Cobb

Mary Anne Hobbs played this earlier in the week and I've been caining it since.

Whole album is excellent tbh, presented as a mixtape.

this ancient AD2 track.... this, right here, is how to record a mellotron. none of that shrill toppy distortion.

I came late to AD2, only really discovering them properly about ten years ago, & immediately had a "where have this band been all my life?" epiphany.

Just watched S4 Ep10 of Gomorrah and now I can't stop listening to this Italo Disco tinged bomb. This desperately needs an extended 12" mix.

I Want to See the Bright Lights Tonight by Richard and Linda Thompson.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=57PENuNVapc

I just love it. The steely note in Linda's voice. The light pomp of the trumpets. The very British, 1970s picture of going out on the piss - there's a touch of Chas and Dave in there. How it's upbeat on the surface, but also kind of depressing in a way that's hard to place - something sinister about those bright lights, and being that desperate to see them.

Also what an album cover.

I'm on my 7th go round of "Silver Lady" by David Soul of today.

Neomod

I've become obsessed with the bubblegum psych-pop of The Cowsills. Watched a doc tonight and it's all sadly very Joe Jackson/Murray Wilson. Career pissed away by a controlling abusive father. Oh and they were the template for The Partridge Family.

This is a gem I've had on repeat today.

Norton Canes

I guess when you recover from breaking your back after falling off a roof clearing ice, your subsequent music is a bit... impassive.

"Laying in bed, as I healed from a 10 foot fall of carelessness with my life, I would dream of running in green grass and tears would pour from my eyes... That is a feeling to hold onto; that life is worth living even when all the towers are crumbling and this goes beyond my own little accident but the world around me. Following the crone into the sinking ship and having the chance to return without a shadow. Drive on, Drive on. A second chance you won't forget"

"Tomorrow Never Came"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CU8pjcgp8J8

The greatest song of all time? (Certainly the greatest featuring a Beatles offspring)

VaginaSimpson

The Byrds - Eight Miles High.

It's on my LastFM Scrobble List. We have playlists we do at work so people have been commenting on my listening habits - 'you listened to it over and over again?!'

Yes I did.

Ambient Sheep

Just did

Nine Inch Nails - A Warm Place
(this version has a nice space video)

Now doing

Aphex Twin - Schottkey 7th Path (Slow Edition)

Funnily enough that's kinda the speed it always is in my head.  I always forget how brisk the original is when it comes on.  I tried to find a Paulstretch 800 one of it but to no avail, but this is a really nice pace.

The Clash This is England.

I blame Todd in the Shadows for this one, this time anyway.

Last night, flat to myself:

Essential Logic - Wake Up

Fucking brilliant - more of this sort o' ting!

Chucked on WFMU earlier and it was a show I don't know, The Duane Train. Funk, disco, house.

Dunno what this is. Disco I guess but it rocks like fuck.

Walking on Cars - Too Emotional

Totally unlike their usual gloomy Dingle sound, but it's my favourite song off Colours.

Pin Drop by Meat Beat Manifesto from their 2019 album Opaque Couché, which I didn't even realise they'd released until the other day.

Def passes through my filter into my lizard brain and childhood memories but just hits me, fuckin choon.

Been listening to Joe Jackson again after the last Chart Music podcast and always come back to the live version of Steppin' Out that was on a bootleg 12" 10 years or so ago, lovely arrangement.
