This LP came out on Friday and I've been rinsing it ever since. The first song is especially lovely

I never thought I would hear myself saying this but after hearing it on Escape at Dannemora I've recently given this a few spins around the block.

Happy New Year (Prince Can't Die Again) by Mac McCaughan.  A song for NYE 2016, but it still speaks to me in 2020.

Puce Moment

I'm currently trying to sort out all of my rare, unreleased, live and radio material from Broadcast

In the final few months of Trish's life they were performing a number of songs that were being developed for their next album. Naturally, that did not happen, although it is assumed that vocals were recorded but James naturally does not want to release them.

In any case, a real favourite of mine is a song called 'What You Want' or 'Children' or 'Dulcimer Jam' depending on who you speak to. I would love to hear a studio version of this:

I'm mad on Italo-Disco stuff at the moment, so I've been listening to this all morning.

Thanks! I'm deep diving with my favourite band and all sorts of pearls are being offered up that I have seen over the years, but never compiled.

Famous Mortimer

Psychic TV - The Orchids

I'm not the biggest fan of theirs, but this just scratches an itch.

Ramona Lisa, who I was unaware of til about 5 minutes ago, did a very similar-sounding cover version, but her vocals sound quite a bit better.

Velcro Fly - ZZ Top

Absolutely relentless drums, ace riff, naff bonkers 80s video, gratuitous sexy ladies; you cannot go wrong with 80s ZZ Top.

My favourite song on Afterburner. It's a great album

Anyway this has been a repeat listen for a few days recently. Marcel King. Reach for love. It's brilliant

I heard this on an old Daniel Kitson Resonance FM morning show yesterday and I've just been playing it over and over this morning

Sin Agog

Listening to this vocal/copper percussion track by a woman named Fatimah Al-Zaelaeya a few times in a row because it sounds so utterly divorced from anything else I've ever heard.  It's like prehistoric industrial music, and...sort of funky in its own clattering way. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVufsUBXjSE

Pagefire normally do parodies of various niche mostly metal genres that usually end up better than most real attempts at songs in said genre. They did this cover for an online contest. It's legit.

Aaaah BJM! Been a while since I've listened to Anton but this has sparked a revival in my retro psych head

I think that is the worst genre of music. I might change my mind but it really is.

Don't Lose Ur Head from the silly musical Six. Quite like all the songs on it to be fair but this is a proper good pop song.

spaghetamine

13th Floor Elevators - Postures (Leave Your Body Behind)

unfortunately Tommy Hall who wrote the lyrics is a racist nutjob these days but it's a great song regardless

The Culture Bunker

Was just going through a power-pop playlist on youtube and found this:

Never heard of the guy (Tommy Keene) before and, sadly, he died a couple of years back. His work seems hard to find these days, which is a shame, as this song is marvellous.

Hey, cheers for that track.  It was a very much needed brain cleanse right now.  I've got her second album, but you've inspired me to listen to the other two.
