Infectious poppery.

The last pop song that really handcuffed my ears was this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mh0FmoQ_rHM - which I happened upon was offered by the insightful youtube algorithm the other night.

(Bassically - Tei Shi)

Spoiler alert
Can anyone be bothered to explain to me how you rename a link. I have tried and TRied and TRIED and I cannot figure it out.

Disconnexion - La Femme

More meth-synth falsetto-punk dungaree-pop from the French polypiece La Femme.

Click the 'Insert Hyperlink' button (world with piece of paper). In between {url} and {/url} (I've used curly instead of square brackets so it doesn't make an actual link here) type whatever text you want e.g. "My cool video". Then put "=" after 'url' in {url} and after that paste your url.

The whole thing should look like: {url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mh0FmoQ_rHM}My cool video{/url} - but with square brackets.

In fact, if you 'Quote' this post you'll see the 'coded' version of the finished link below:

My cool video

Thank you!

I realised when I read your post that I probably could have googled that because it will be the same for any forum won't it?  Oops...

But now when you see me use it in a post you will be able to look on with pride. And maybe even a tear in your eye. In that moment I will have made your life better. And if I improve one person's life, I improve the world. So, in reality, am I not one of the great philanthropists of our time?

No Girl So Sweet - PJ Harvey

The female chameleon slips into digital Medusa mode and - sweet heresy - doesn't she just look sexy? If you're reading this Polly - great work!

Bad MF - Pharoahe Monch

With his disstopian vision, twinkletongue Monch munches the opposition in this not just sick, but bulimic polemic.

Weight - Angel Haze

We love rappers here at The Daily Institute, and this song here is a fine example. But we've got to ask: Angel, why so angry?

jobotic

I may have played this five times last night, I regularly do.

Idy Lynn - Up in my Mind

Cuellar

Actually I do know why: it's GREAT, that's why.

All Surrogate

Probably connected to watching It's a Sin recently:

Bronski Beat - Why?

It's been said many times, but Somerville's voice is incredible.

You in your false securities
Tear up my life, condemning me.
Name me an illness. You call me a sin.
Never feel guilty! Never give in!

All Futures by The Armed

I can't stop listening to it. The production is weird, like everything is muted, no element is allowed to dominate, but the melody still breaks though. Love it.

Uma Banger!

Wow, how have I never heard of them?

In a slightly similar vein (Cecilia was Spanish and her songs didn't usually sound like this, but it has quite a Tropocalia feel about it I think)

Cecilia - Equilibrista

Nice. Reminds me of Pentangle on their holidays.

A friend made me a CD compilation and this was on there and I can't stop listening to it-

That Nick Nicely one is a total gem, it was only really him and Martin Newell doing that kind of thing in the early 80s.

There can only be one honest answer for me this week. It's  "East End Tune" by Ed Case , as showcased on the latest Chart Music episode.

MOI NAME'S GRANT MITCHELL
SHARON'S ME LOVAHHHHH
AND IF YOU DON'T LOIKE IIIIIT

It's not fast enough for my liking.

Ferris

The theme tune from Rainbow while cleaning the kitchen.

Lovely stuff.

MikkiDisco

Probably Stars by Nina Simone. Had never heard of it until it was used brilliantly at the end of Bojack season 3 and it kicked off a mini obsession for me. Still now my go to song to ask Alexa to play when I can't get to sleep at night.

Neomod

A banger on so many levels, be it Bart's genius songwriting or the Bacharach/Webb inspired arrangement.

Poobum

Not a single tune, but an entire playlist. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLqWbjZ_t9qDlY08FPwztA2wXoil0mzusM  Sound track from the Xen levels of the Black Mesa remake of Half-Life. Epic and transporting.
