Paul McCartney - Monkberry Moon Delight. Sounds like Paul's off his tree, and quite right too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O83CrS-KElk

Played the new Xiu Xiu single quite a lot, was disappointed with the previous effort from the new album coming out this month but this is simultaneously as batshit insane and infectious as they are at their best - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jspV_JajAhk

There can only be one honest answer for me this week. It's  "East End Tune" by Ed Case , as showcased on the latest Chart Music episode.

MOI NAME'S GRANT MITCHELL
SHARON'S ME LOVAHHHHH
AND IF YOU DON'T LOIKE IIIIIT
I'LL COME ROUND AND NUT YA!

An utter earworm.

If that's the same Ed Case that used to do a comedy music turn in the early 2000s (and I think it is) his real name was Phil Charlton - I used to work with him at HMV back in the mid 80s. I heard a few years ago that he'd died.

"MacArthur Park" by Richard Harris

I've heard it before but a friend sent me "The Classic Songs Of Jimmy Webb" and this just locked onto me. Who did leave that cake out in the rain?

Alien Weaponry - Kai Tangata. This ones grown on me more and more each time I listen to it.

Genghis Tron: Pyrocene

The new album is out on Friday and on the strength of the 3 songs released so far, it will certainly be in with a shout for album of the year.

Still on a Jimmy Webb tip, "Wichita Lineman" by Glen Campbell. The shimmering noise after "I hear you singing in the wires" (that's not the high violins) does something to me. It's a shame the ending just reminds me of the end of any Steve Wright radio show though.

I pretty much love anything Aldous Harding puts out and this Deerhunter cover is no exception.

This slightly slower version of "Is It Cold In the Water?" by SOPHIE. One of those songs it's hard to listen to; cracks the emotional dam.

Been investigating 90s US indie-rockers Cake, which mainly means "Short Skirt/Long Jacket" on repeat.
